New Middle School, High School renovations, upgraded Auto/Metals Shops to be featured

LUXEMBURG, Wis. – The Luxemburg-Casco School District will hold three dedication ceremonies on Thursday, October 29. Held consecutively beginning at 4 p.m., the events will celebrate the district’s completion of $27.8 million in referendum projects. Ceremonies will be conducted to dedicate the brand-new Middle School, renovations to the High School and the opening of the upgraded Automotive and Metals Fabrication shops.

In-person attendees will be limited to invited guests due to COVID-19, and those on hand will be required to take the appropriate precautions, including masking and social distancing.

The public is invited to view the ceremonies online at http://bit.ly/L-CDedicationCeremony. A video also will be produced to show the community key interest areas they would have seen had in-person tours not been negated by the pandemic.

The new Luxemburg-Casco Middle School, along with renovations to the adjoining Luxemburg-Casco High School, will be dedicated at 4 p.m. in the main hallway of the schools’ combined entrance. Attendees will include district administrators, Board of Education members, High School class presidents and some primary participants in the 16-month project: Nexus Solutions, SMA Construction Services and Somerville Architects.

At 4:30 p.m., the expanded and updated Automotive Shop will be dedicated. District teachers, students and personnel will be joined by Gene Francisco of Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, along with representatives from area companies who are supporting the automotive program through investment and opportunities for hands-on student work: Dorsch Ford, Broadway Automotive, NAPA/Clover Auto Parts, NAPA/Ball Auto and Truck Parts, Phase III Service Center, Pilsen Auto Service, Auto Aces, New Franken Sales and Service, and McClure’s Service.

Immediately following, a ceremony will be held in the upgraded L-C Metal Fabrication Shops to commemorate their opening for student use. Area businesses supporting this program are D&S Machine Service, 5 Point Fabrication, Olson Fabrication Inc., and LaserForm LLC.

The Luxemburg-Casco School District undertook a long-range facilities plan in the spring of 2015. Following engagement with the local community, two referendum questions were put before voters in April 2018; both passed, launching a series of construction projects.

Among these was a brand-new Middle School, moving from an aging building in nearby Casco to give the district a single campus for its educational facilities; significant additions and renovations to the High School Building; and upgrades to the Primary School.

The new Luxemburg-Casco Middle School, which opened for the 2020-21 academic year, has more than 20 classrooms to serve seventh- and eighth-grade students. It also has dedicated space for technical education, family and consumer science, and art education.

Renovations to the High School building, constructed in 1968, include a modernized library/media center, an upgraded kitchen to handle both middle- and high-school students, an updated student lunchroom, a relocated main office, a weight room for student-athletes which could double as a community fitness center after hours, and the upgraded Auto Shop and technical-education areas.

Added to the High School were a new, three-station Gymnasium with team locker rooms and upgraded concessions, a new Wrestling Room and the first-ever School Store. Those facilities were dedicated and opened on Jan. 26, 2020.

Upgrades also were made at the district’s other buildings, including a new secure entrance and additional classrooms at the Primary School.

The Luxemburg-Casco School District serves nearly 2,000 Northeast Wisconsin students annually through four schools located on a single campus in Luxemburg: the Primary School (4K-2), Intermediate School (3-6), Middle School (7-8) and High School (9-12). The district maintains a strong tradition of academic and extracurricular excellence while preparing students to thrive in a global community. U.S. News & World Report in 2020 ranked L-C High School as a top 5 high school within the Green Bay metro area. Located between Green Bay, Door County and Lake Michigan, the educational community has been in existence since the early 1900s, with Luxemburg and Casco operating as separate districts until they merged in 1968.
