On May 7, 8, and 9, 2015, the Luxemburg-Casco School Board sponsored an event called “Creating Our Future Together - A Community Conversation” in hopes of rebuilding the relationship between the L-C community and the school district. The specific purposes of the event were to:

  1. Identify the issues and trends that are shaping our community and schools

  2. Identify what our students need in order to be successful

  3. Identify what our community wants from our school district

  4. Identify opportunities that are beneficial to the needs and aspirations of the district and our community

  5. Strengthen the connection between our community and school district

The event on May 7 – 9 was a huge success according to the 125 participants and it generated loads of enthusiasm and positive outlook for the future of the community and the school district.

The event culminated in the generation of over 20 “themes” that were the result of collaborative discussions between all participants over the three day event. The themes are identified below with the number of people who indicated which themes they thought were most important. The school board and administration are planning to meet in late June/early July to begin the process of deciding the best way to address each item and a timeline for doing so.
