Skvader are PREY/NONTHREATENING.
ART BY: MANGOPAWS
Skvader are winged lagomorph akin to rabbits, fit with long ears, round brown eyes, soft fur, a long tufted tail, and tufted ankles much like the CoveyClanners they live among. They have full, egg shaped bodies and large hind leg bones with well-developed muscles built for speed. Their long ears are used to detect and avoid predators and keep cool in the heat, and the way their eyes are positioned in their skulls gives them field of vision that encompasses nearly 360 degrees, with only a small blind spot. Their wings are long and narrow, built for sustained speed.
Like their rabbit cousins, Skvader are skittish and nervous, constantly on the lookout from predators. They live in small groups as a family, living in burrows underground. In Skvader families, the females care for the young and the males dig the burrows, patrol for predators, and offer protection. If cornered, a Skvader emits a shrill screech that alerts the family, who rush to defend it. A group of Skvader can be a formidable foe to smaller predators, latching onto the attacker and biting with their long incisor teeth. Unfortunately, their bites only cause minor damage, and aren't sharp enough to break the skin on Clan cats.
Skvader have high metabolism and voracious appetites, so they consume a large quantity of vegetation. Once they'd ruined the vegetation in one area, they simply move onto the next, in a constant search for food. Thankfully, CoveyClan's savanna covers that need. Normally such a creature would cause ruin, but in fact the Skvader help the environment. Less vegetation means less wildfires spreading over the territory in a flash.
Skvader mostly come in varying shades of brown and white, markings similar to sparrows and finches. Their undersides are always white to blend into the sky when flying, while their brown backs help them to blend in to the dry grasses of CoveyClan when not flying.
Skvader hold no spiritual value to Clan cats, who just see them as prey.
