Appearance & Location

Eyrie Birds are large CoveyClan predator, similar to Rocs and Cockatrices. There are rare sightings of them in CavernClan, where they may peek into skylights to serach for something to eat. They evolved to have strong, bone-like structures over their faces, backs, and wings. They have claw-like appendages on their wings that help them cling to and crawl against rocky outcroppings. The bone like structure is protective in nature, acting like a turtle shell, as it protects the Eyrie Bird's sensitive eyes and heads from severe injury. However, if their mask is broken or be removed, they die from exposure within a few hours to a few days. When their mask is damaged, they become incredibly aggressive.

Abilities & Behavior

Despite their fearsome appearance, Eyrie Birds primarily scavenge on already dead animals. It's not uncommon for them to go after live prey, however, CoveyClanners included. Eyrie Birds soar through the clouds for cover, then drop into a nosedive to attack unsuspecting animals. When facing one of these predators, a strong hit to the mask is usually enough to scare them away.

However, if an Eyrite Bird's mask is damaged in a non-lethal manner, they become incredibly hostile to the creature that gave them the injury. They hunt them down relentlessly until one of them has died. Most often, the Eyrie Bird dies of exposure first. These frightening birds are known to recklessly storm CoveyClan's camp after a guardian has provoked them, however. In these cases, the Clan eats well.

Variants & Attributes

Most Eyrie Birds are brown or black with few colorful highlights. However, their feathers can come in nearly any shade of color. Blue, yellow, and green are the most common colors that they come in. Purples and reds are much rarer and may be a sought-after treasure in CoveyClan.
