A highly coordinated team of skilled fliers with mastery over aerokinesis tasked with keeping CoveyClan safe from the natural disasters that plague their territory. Living on a savanna on the equator, fires spark and spread often in CoveyClan. It's up to the Aviators to not only prevent it but to fight it.

The duties of an Aviator are vast and all hard work; all surrounding protecting CoveyClan from threats born of both nature and the other Clans. Aviators duties include;
The main task of an Aviator is fire prevention. Each day they are tasked with scouting the territory, flying over the savanna and watching the horizon for any clouds of smoke that would indicate a wildfire. There are many dirt paths twisting and winding through the territory, paths that Aviators are in charge of upkeeping as well. Clearing away the grass, moving fallen logs — these paths separate the territory and keep fires contained. Any and all escape routes must be maintained and cleared at all times as well, in the off chance prevention fails.
In the event of a fire, small or large, it's an Aviator's job to fight it. Fire in most cases grows larger with wind, but with how powerful the kinesis of an Aviator is, strong enough gusts can cool down a fire and cause it to snuff out. In the chance of an uncontainable fire, Aviators are tasked with returning to camp and helping the Clan escape to the Shimmering Sault through designated fire escape routes.
When the paths are well kept and there isn't much more to do, Aviators often group hunt in between scouting for potential fires. With their abilities and unspoken teamwork, they can take down much larger prey than the average Guardian.
Being the most powerful kinetic users in the Clan, Aviators are on the frontlines of battle on the occasion CoveyClan goes to battle. Using their fine-tuned knowledge of their abilities and the magic that washes through their blood, Aviators are a scary force to be reckoned with. However, due to the nature of wind being less precise than for instance a VerdureClanner's vine, Aviators can't use their abilities carelessly in crowds mixed with their own Clanmates.
Aviators are a close knit community of cats, and Captains choose their new members carefully during field days!
At 9 moons old all Guardian Apprentices go through a Field Day- A part-interview part-competition to showcase knowledge, kinetic abilities, and speed.
Aviator Captains will take a group of Apprentices, usually 2 or 3 at a time, and have them partake in 3 of the activities listed below (but can be changed depending on Captains.). They judge them not only on their successfulness, but also their attitude towards it and their peers. A talented Apprentice won't get very far if they're a horrible cat to be around.
· Kinetic sparring
· Flying race
· Fire prevention knowledge
· Obstacle courses
· Anything to show kinetic ability

When an Apprentice is chosen after their field day, they are assigned a new Aviator mentor. This mentor takes over their training, and begins training them on the duties of an Aviator, listed above.
Aviator Apprentices are often trained for an extra 2-5 moons, depending on when their Captain deems them ready to graduate.
Mentors are usually 25+ moons, and are chosen by the Aviator Captains, not the Leader.
Aviators were created under the reign of Coveystar by a young cat named Weavermask. Naturally a social outcast, Weavermask dedicated all their time and energy to the Clan instead of relationships, wanting to make their new life in the savanna as comfortable as possible.
Due to the unkempt and dry nature of their territory, fires were somewhat of a common condition that plagued the new Clan. Fires that spread fast and often forced the CoveyClanners to the Shimmering Sault for protection. They'd been blessed with this land to call their own, and it was hard living when everything kept burning down. Weavermask was determined to find a way to contain it. They figured there had to be a method to it, believing the Divines wouldn't curse them so.
After the death of the first Deputy Ampeloperunner to the fires, Weavermask was named Deputy in her place . With their newfound authority, they gathered a group of particularly talented fliers and got to work. They started by creating loads of twisting dirt paths, clearing away the long grasses and dividing the territory into sections. The theory was that should another wildfire spread, it would stop at the path and be better contained — and they were right. Weavermask simultaneously trained this team to be good spotters, scouting from the sky for any blip of smoke. They knew wind often aided fires, but they discovered that strong enough wind, wind born from their kinesis, was strong enough to cool down fires enough to fizzle out. After such success, Weavermask brought up the idea to Coveystar to make the team permanent, to avoid any more of the disasters that caused the death of the old Deputy. They fittingly named the team Aviators, after their strong kinesis and flying skills that would keep the Clan safe for generations to come.
