Pythayas are POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS.

A plant-based creature akin to a lizard found in VerdureClan's jungles. Pythaya have rough, seemingly scaled skin adored with thorn-like spikes. Armor-like petals grow around their eyes and at the base of their tails, as well as their tail tips, which are full blooms. While Pythaya can come in a variety of colors, usually with bodies based off of fruits and melons, they are extremely toxic to eat.
Pythaya grow out of the ground like fruit, but have many qualities that make it a living creature. Pythaya are curious and defensive creatures, easily scampering near Clan cats for closer looks, holding up their tail and puffing up their spikes to try and seem more dangerous when threatened. They are more often caught and relocated to different parts of the jungle rather than being killed. Apprentices enjoy chasing after the fruit lizards. While they are a nuisance with how they tear up gardens and ransack fruit supplies, as long as cats are taught not to eat or bite the creatures, they are relatively harmless besides a nip from their sharp teeth.
In order to keep the species going, the poisonous creature burrows down into the earth at the end of its life cycle, decaying and leaving behind a plant. This plant grows to bear fruit cocoons that turn into fresh Pythaya. The ripe lizards grow old and find suitable burrowing ground and repeat the cycle.

Pythaya come in a variety of colors ranging from green to a reddish brown, and may have stripes running down their scaley bodies. The petals that grow from their heads and tails vary from lizard to lizard, but all bare the same shape and texture. There are no differences between the sexes, though males might be slightly larger.
They hold no significant cultural value to the Clan cats, only serving as a pest at best.
