Mixed Magic cats are born into the world when two cats of differing clans have kittens. Mixed Magic cats cannot be entered into the roleplay without an item from our shop or they must be born from two cats currently in the roleplay. Due to conflicting, mixed magical energy, Mixed Magic kittens struggle to thrive, and those that do grow to an older age develop disabilities and side effects from this conflicted magic. It causes oddly grown limbs, chronic pains, respiratory issues, and other complications. This page goes over information regarding Mixed Magic (MM) cats, as well as the complications they may face.
MM cats are a mix between their two parents- and come in different shapes, sizes, and colors. They are the most diverse cats in the clans, showing off sparkling arrays of colors and features from multiple types of creatures. They may also have a random mix of traits from their parent's clans- they are not required to have every trait from every clan, but, they feature four required traits from both clans! A TideClan CoveyClan Mixed Magic cat, for instance, can display fins, wings, barbels, and a feathered tailtip- or they could have wings, feathered ankles, a feathered tail-tip, and barbels!
MM cats can have traits from each clan that are combined together. Some examples include the following:
A Covey/Cavern MM cat that has insect-like wings. These cannot be used for flight, only gliding.
A Covey/Tide MM cat with webbed talons.
A Verdure/Cavern MM cat with crystal antlers.
And more! If you think of any combination, please open a ticket or ask in help so we can make sure it's valid before you draw it out!
Although weaker in kinesis than other cats, MM cats possess both types of, and are able to hone and control them with time and practice. Strong kinetic-using MM cats are a great asset to their Clans, and are often sought after by leadership.
While the idea of a Mixed Magic leader is quite interesting, the Divines and StarClan do not grant mixed leadership traits in the event of a MM cat stepping up to lead their Clan. Rather, their mixed magical marker is replaced with their home Clan's marker, and they are granted the full traits of the Clan they are leading- whether they want this to happen or not. This also happens to Leaders that were once a part of a former clan. A TideClanner stepping up as CoveyClan's leader would be turned into a CoveyClanner, for instance.

MM cats are born with main disabilities that affect the main uses of their clan traits. When creating a MM character they must have a main disability from at least one of their biologically related clans.
For example, a half-Covey, half-Cavern cat will have to choose between being able to fly or being able to use their gems.
All MM cats have three or more of the disabilities listed below, based on the character's heritage. All MM cats must have a disability from both of their parent Clans. They must have three disabilities in total, one of three being a major disability. The major disability could be from either parent clan. This is only a minimum requirement.
Minor
They have some gems, but they’re muddy and underdeveloped and kinda wet.
Underdeveloped antennae, unable to detect changes in dark environment as well.
Electra are underdeveloped and immobile, rendering them useless.
Major
No night vision.. Everything is so dark.. Blind underground, painful light above the surface.
Unlike their Clanmates, they aren’t as tolerant to the pressure, carbon dioxide, and low oxygen levels underground, therefore breathing is always a struggle. Think breathing out of a bag but forever.
They lack the strength of their Clanmates, with brittle bones and underdeveloped claws. They certainly can’t help with any digging projects, and are generally frail in a hard environment.
Instead of their gems growing on the outside of their body, they grow inside, into muscles and organs. Chronic pain and fatigue as a result.
Minor
Super small and underdeveloped wings, more often than not it’s just a flap of skin on the back; completely useless and cannot be moved on their own.
Thick/moisture-grabbing, non-aerodynamic fur. Makes even gliding near impossible because wind catches the body more easily.
Major
Wings growing in places they shouldn’t, such as their face, head, body, etc. They can’t use these wings, but they certainly get in the way, and they’re much more painful when they grow in.
The structure of their bones develops improperly, and are frail, brittle, and easy to break.
The structure of their bones develops improperly, and are too dense, therefore preventing flight at all.
The stress of the mixed magic has caused them to forever be molting, resulting in patchy and hairless coats and constantly sunburnt skin.
Minor
Underdeveloped tail and fins, inhibiting swimming.
Instead of fins growing out of their body, it’s small and frail fish bones sticking out of their pelt. Pretty hard to use your fins when water passes right through them!
Non-fuctional gills- they may not attach to anything, have gemstones or weeds growing out of it!
Major
Small lungs, so they can’t hold their breath for any length of time underwater like their clanmates. Makes hunting quite hard.
They don’t have waterproof fur, and therefore leaves swimming a very tiring process, drowning is easy when your pelt is heavy with water.
Constant, incurable fin rot where the fins are an aching red and constantly rip and tear, only to heal and do it again.
Minor
Tiny nubs for horns, most don’t even break the skin and are just hard lumps on the forehead.
Pollen intolerance to the body. Constant bad allergies! Sniffle…
Major
As their horns grow, they make a sharp turn and start growing into the skin as opposed to out of it, resulting in an ever-growing puncture wound.
Constant cough where they are vomiting/coughing up the petals, flowers, and leaves, which sometimes will eventually grow large enough to render breathing very hard.
Horns growing out of places they shouldn’t be, and certainly getting in the way!
Mixed Magic cats can have kits. The magical marker of their litter is dependent on their genetics.
As it stands, if two Full-blooded cats of the same magic type have a kit, then that kit is born with their magic:
FB🔵 + FB🔵 = FB🔵
If two Full-blooded cats of a different magic type have a kit, they will have a Mixed Magic kit with both types of their magic:
FB🔵 + FB🟡 = MM🔵🟡
Now things get a bit more complex:
If a full-blooded cat and a mixed magic cat who share a marker have kits, they have a 50% chance of having a mixed magic kit.
FB🔵 + MM🔵🟡 = FB🔵 or MM🔵🟡
If the parents do not share the same magic type (i.e a TideClanner🔵 and a Mixed Magic cat that is half CoveyClan🟡 and half VerdureClan🟢), the kit will be born Mixed Magic. The kit will have one marker from the full-blooded cat (in this case TideClan), and one marker from the Mixed Magic cat (either Covey or Verdure). The creator can choose which.
FB🔵 + MM🟡🟢 = MM🔵 + 🟡or🟢
(Full-blooded TideClanner + Mixed Magic Covey/VerdureClan = a Mixed Magic cat with TideClan and Covey or VerdureClan markers.)
If two Mixed Magic Cats decide to have a kit and they both share the exact same two magic types the kits have a 50/50 chance of being full-blooded or mixed magic.
MM🟡🟢 + MM🟡🟢 = FB🟡 or FB🟢 or MM🟡🟢
If they only share one type of magic then the chances are swapped:
MM🟡🟢 + MM🟡🔵 = FB🟡 or MM🟡🔵 or MM🟡🟢 or MM🟢🔵
If they share no Magic Types then their kits can wind up with any combination of two types of magic.
This can be a bit complicated, so if you have any questions please don't be afraid to ask staff!
