CoveyClan's Camp is a shallow dip in the hills, protected all around by tall swathes of grass and thistly bushes. Rocks scatter the hills, creating perches and playing grounds for kittens. Multiple tall, gnarled, magically-strengthened trees grow about the camp, sturdy and strong and built from the nutrients left behind in the soil after the great fire that swept through the savanna. The youngest, and oldest, members of the clan reside on the floor of the camp. During the hot dry season, cats prefer to sleep out in the open and down on the ground. The fresh-kill pile lies in the center of the camp beneath two stacked rocks, protecting prey from sky-faring predators or from rotting beneath the sun. Bundles of dry herbs hang from the trees, their strong scent masking the camp's presence to predators when the winds blow through. Colorful flowers, such as cornflowers, lavender, poppies, honeysuckle, and marigolds grow in large swathes throughout the camp, most concentrated around the edges of the camp. Butterflies and bees buzz about the air, attracted by all the sweet-smelling flowers. Sky Guppies illuminate the clan a warm gold throughout the night.
CoveyClan camp is entered primarily through the skies. With a majority of the Clan being winged, an entrance isn't particularly needed. This allows for pinch points around the barrier of camp. Thick brush and shrubbery surrounds CoveyClan's camp, letting up only where the lookout tree sprouts beside the Elder's nest. A guard stays posted here throughout the day to prevent any slippery Kits or Apprentices from sneaking out during the night. During the early wet season, this shrubbery grows a bit sparse, and security amps up as a result.
After the fire that swept through CoveyClan's camp, and the falling of the original Leader's nest and Highbranch, assistance was provided by the other Clans to create a new announcement place. The Highcliff is where the current leader announces to the Clan, jutting out of the ground just beside the Healer's den. From this spot, the Leader can monitor the entire clearing.
The Leader's Nest grows just beside the Highrock, a small acacia tree with plenty of branches for the Leader to curl up in. The Healer's Den rests below it. This den is elevated just enough that the current Leader can monitor the Clan, but is secluded enough to allow the Leader for privacy when needed. The current Leader builds their nest however they see fit, and the tangled branches provide space to store valuables. Unlike the other Clans, the current Deputy also sleeps in the Leader's Tree, with a nest on a lower branch of the acacia tree.
The Guardian's Nest is a massive, strong, Verdure-grown jackalberry tree that hosts all of the Guardians and Aviators or CoveyClan. This massive tree sprouts numerous sturdy branches to build massive, sprawling nests, where Clanmates nest together with their friends and family. The fruits that grow from the tree are relatively tasteless due to the tree's quick aging, but are still considered a sweet snack when fully ripened. This tree provides a vast majority of CoveyClan's shade, giving the clan relief during the hottest time of year.
The Apprentice's Nest is tucked under a large slab of rock which juts out from between the roots of the Guardian's Nest. The earth beneath it is dug out to provide relief from the strong winds of the savanna, as well as providing shade and cooler temperatures during the hot season. A dense bush of lavender sprouts up next to this den. This den is on the ground as most Apprentices do not have fully grown features, and cannot yet flutter up into the Guardian's Nest.
Much like the Apprentice's Nest, the Healer's Alcove resides on the floor of the camp to allow for easy access. It has a low entrance to block the sunlight from filtering in, and is dug out into a large, open space. Wet moss is stored in a nook lined with pebbles and rocks to keep the water from seeping into the soil. Small shelving is chipped out in the den's rocky walls and kept in woven baskets. Much like other Healers, CoveyClan's Healer's Nest has another small subroom for the contagiously ill. Herbs are dried out on the top of the Nest, and are then tied up on the tree branches around camp for quick access. The strong smell of the herbs wards off mosquitoes and other biting bugs, as well as masking the Clan's scent when the winds blow through.
The Nursery is the only nest on the ground that is not made up of stone. Made up of flowering cape honeysuckle and tall lemongrass, the Nursery is well-covered and plenty shady, with sweet flowers to distract the younger kits. Queens can easily slip in and out of the shrubbery, and the kits have plenty of space to tussle about and grow. There are no nests inside of CoveyClan's Nursery, rather, small spaces where the lemongrass has been patted down by families. Sunlight pokes through the shrubbery, dappling the floor of the Nursery.
Just beside the Healer's Nest is the Elder's Nest. This den is no different from any other den- dug into cool soil and outfitted with soft, mossy nests. This den is shielded by rocky slabs of stone to keep safe from the hot sun and strong winds. Kits and Elders can be found lounging around and chattering, Kits oftentimes learning stories from their Elders.
CoveyClan territory is made up of primarily wide, vast grasslands cut through by rivers and small streams. This grassland sits in the category of a tree savanna- covered by a very sparse canopy of acacia and bushwillow trees. Strong winds blow over the savanna, leaving the territory very dry and arid, with the only relief from the dry atmosphere coming during the Wet Season. During the hottest of seasons, the northern watering hole is one of the only reliable sources of non-muddied, foul water. The floor of the savanna is very dangerous, as predators of every kind travel through the open plains. Fortunately, it is very, very difficult to get turned around in CoveyClan's territory, as the landmarks stand out even during the sandiest of days.
Despite its barren appearance, CoveyClan territory is lush with all types of flora and fauna. Large grazers patrol the territory- elephants, rhinoceros, giraffes, and more can all be found in large gatherings grazing on trees or drinking from watering holes. Hogs and buffalo can be found indulging on dropped seeds from the many trees sprouting from the ground, and meerkats and aardvarks scamper across trodden paths. Colorful birds flutter about the watering holes, from mousebirds to bee-eaters to weaver birds. Magical creatures call CoveyClan home as well, from the spry and nimble Ohmpala to the fierce Eyrie Bird.
Bluegrass, elephant grass, lemongrass, and other types of tall grass make up a vast majority of CoveyClan territory. Low shrubbery such as honeysuckle bushes, tree spurge, and african lily provides ground cover for CoveyClan, as well as a host of small creatures. Tall trees such as acacia, bushwillows, yucca, and jackalberry provide Guardians and patrols perches and shade during the hotter times of the year. Around the watering holes and winding rivers, a plethora of flowers and herbs sprout out from the ground, colorful daises, bright blue-eyed grasses, and water lilies. Despite their plentiful nature, crocodiles and Giant Axolotls lurk in the waters they surround, picking on cats that aren't too careful. CoveyClan territory is home to all herbs that grow in dry soils, as well as a vast majority of the animal sourced goods the other Clans seek out for trading.
The Kopje is a small outcrop of rocks that sits just northwest of camp, close to the river and the crossing to the Gathering Island. This dry piece of land is where mentors take their Apprentices to learn how to use their newly-growing wings. The stacked rocks provide multiple different elevations for Apprentices to leap from and safely flutter back down to dry grounds. This location is one of the few that CoveyClan keeps cleared of predators, chasing out snakes and scorpions seeking sanctuary in the craggy stones as to keep them safe for the youngest of the Clan.
Dry shrubbery sprouts out from between the rocks, here, and succulents grow in the dry earth, pricking cats who aren't careful. The grass in the surrounding territory is kept trimmed down to keep any ambush predators from sneaking up on training Apprentices. On occasion, meerkats may stop by to rest in the shade of the stones, but are quickly chased away.
The Shimmering Sault is a craggy, elevated waterfall that CoveyClan uses as a second home during the event of a wildfire threatening their main camp. This waterfall resides along the border between CoveyClan and TideClan, and is shared between the two when the secondary camp is not being used by CoveyClan. With a constant, cool spray, and layers of craggy cliff to play on, the Shimmering Sault is a popular area for socializing. Guardians bring their Apprentices to play in the waters while they cool off after training, and the cool updraft from TideClan territory enables cats to stay in the air without any effort.
This damp location is home to all sorts of berry bushes and trees- juneberries, olive trees, figs, miracle berries, and more grow in the shade and mist of the sault, providing sweet treats for curious Apprentices. Vines creep over the sedimentary rock walls. The moisture attracts all sorts of bugs and creatures- small fish dart through the river below, and frogs croak through the night while dragonflies and bees flit around.
On occasion, TideClan apprentices sneak into the Shimmering Sault to play with the CoveyClanners from across the border. Though some cats frown upon this, it isn't disallowed.
Xiomara's Creek is a small piece of land just next to VerdureClan territory, where the denser rainforest spreads into CoveyClan's grasslands. Tall kapok trees dart the terrain, and a small spring bubbles up from beneath the shadow of the trees, spilling into a shallow creek that runs south to branch back into the river. At the peak of this piece of territory lies a massive stone dragon, overgrown by branches and roots of the nearby trees. Legend has it that the great dragon's desire to protect has not faded, even through death, and that it is her alone who keeps the spring running during the hottest of weather. Her massive stone wings provide relief from the overbearing sun when the leaves wither with heat, unbreaking in spite of the vines and roots that threaten to crack them.
