TideClanners are typically small, long and lithe cats with short and dense otter-like fur. TideClan fur is also relatively waterproof due to their diet of fish and sealife. All TideClanners have fins- a dorsal fin down their spine that starts either at their head or shoulders, ventral fins along their elbows and heels, and a tail that is tipped with a caudal fin. They can have extra dorsal and ventral fins along their tails, but this is only cosmetic! These fins have spots that glow in the dark and underwater, and can blink to communicate to clanmates! They can have fin-like ears. TideClanners also have barbels to feel around and find food in dark environments- they always have one pair of barbels that may sprout from their faces! These barbels can pick up taste, and will grow back if plucked. These barbels also glow and blink like their fin spots. While patches of scales can be large, TideClanners may also have 'freckles' along their bodies, where individual scales or small clusters of them peek through the fur. When dropped or broken, their teeth regrow like sharks. TideClanners may have different fin shapes depending on the aquatic creature they are based upon, and can be better or worse at certain areas as a result. A cat with a truncal tail fin might be exceptional at fast, tight maneuvers, whereas a cat with a lunate tail fin might excel with moving swiftly in underwater currents. They can be based on a variety of aquatic creatures including,
Fish (including sharks, rays, and freshwater fishes)
Crustaceans (shrimps and crabs)
Aquatic mollusks (octopi, bivalves, snails, etc.)
Subclass Urodela (newts, salamanders, olms, etc.)
Marine mammals (sirenians, cetaceans, pinnipeds, otters)
TideClan cats are very graceful and quick, and guardians can swim at speeds up to 50mph in short bursts, but most go around 35mph. If a TideClanner is born with gills, they can breathe indefinitely underwater. For cats that do not have gills, they can hold their breath underwater for up to a whopping 12 hours! Guardians are capable of reaching a staggering depth of 13,125 feet underwater! Divers may be able to go even further with a risk of damage from the pressure of the water.
TideClanners posses the ability to use hydrokinesis- or the ability to move, control, and manipulate water of any kind! While it may seem like they are only strong near sources of water, TideClanners are capable of feats like pulling moisture from the air, or from deep underground. While some fish species have electric currents within them, TideClanners do not posses these powers.
TideClan leaders have much larger dorsal fins, as well as having three dorsal fins instead of one! Leaders also breathe a bit differently than their Clanmates, because they can breathe both on land and in water! They have gills on their necks, but can live outside comfortably on land for extended periods of time. They breathe by retaining water in enlarged gill chambers, and can also breathe through their wet skin. They have spurs near their mouths that aid in combat, delivering a deep, stinging wound. TideClan leaders are also capable of diving to depths of 26,250 feet, and reach a top swimming speed of 100mph! They also have stronger hydrokinetic powers! Their leader marks are usually on their shoulders or thighs.

TideClanners are typically the smallest cats of the clans- short-built cats with long, sleek bodies and thick, waterproof fur. Although other TideClanners may be taller, shorter, or have a different body build. They may be based on fish, marine mollusks and crustaceans, pinnipeds, dolphins, and whales. They can not be based on marine lizards or amphibians. TideClanners can be born with scales that are scattered along their short, hydrophobic fur. Some may be born with gills, while others can be born with seal-like noses. These cats have fins along their backs, elbows, and at the tips of their tails. Some may have additional fins along the dorsal and ventral sides of their tails, as well as cosmetic pectoral fins along their sides. The fins along their backs grow no higher than the backs of their ears, excluding portions of the fin that come up the nape and to the top of the head. Caudal fins grow at a maximum around the length of 60% of a cat's body, from nose to the base of their tail. The caudal fin may be connected to the dorsal fin, such as an eel’s fin. These fins may also connect with a ventral fin beneath the tail. Elbow fins are small, but do not have any true sizing specifics. TideClanners have at least one pair of barbels. They are never any longer than a cat's body. TideClan cats have glowing markings on their fins- commonly in stripes or spots, and in any color. These spots illuminate underwater, or in dark environments, and are not visible in the daylight hours. These spots can flicker and blink as a form of underwater communication. Their barbels are capable of this same feat.
TideClan leaders have much larger fins than their Guardians, as well as having 3 dorsal fins along their backs instead of 1. TideClan leaders also always have gills, allowing them to breathe both underwater and on the surface. Spurs grow near TideClan leader’s mouths, allowing for stinging attacks.
The following traits appear on all TideClanners, but can be missing due to accident or injury. Keep in mind barbels regrow;
Fins along the back and elbows*
Markings along the fins that glow underwater and in the dark*
A tail with a caudal fin at the end*
Barbels on the cheeks and forehead
The following traits are optional for TideClanners;
Additional dorsal and ventral fins on their tails
Fin ears
Seal nose
Gills
Eyes based on aquatic creatures
Anything cleared in the Cosmetic Quirk Guidelines
* Underwater markings do not appear in daylight, and do not need to be shown on reference sheets.
* TideClanners can also be missing a tail and have only a fin. This fin follows the same sizing regulations. Fins regrow unless the flesh beneath is damaged badly enough.
