Emperatura is Nonthreatening.
CoveyClanners CAN be based on them.
Emperatura are brightly colored flightless birds that reside on the cliffs and rocky shoreline overtaking the oceans of TideClan. These birds have streamlined plumage, consisting of shiny, water-repellent feathers, which prevent the skin from getting wet and webbed feet. Their small wings resemble flippers, adorned with colorful feathered membrane that stretches from wrist to ankle. They have long feathery tails that provide stability while gliding and swimming through the sea.
Emperatura live in large groups and form large nesting colonies, but are much too skittish to defend it. If a predator even so much as looks their way, they scatter, leaving their nests behind. They mate for life, laying small clutches of highly nutritious eggs at the start of the wet season so that they might hatch come dry season. When in water, these birds are excellent swimmers; when on land they're rather clumsy. They either walk with a waddling gait or slide over the rocky terrain on their bellies, propelling themselves with their feet and tails. While they are flightless, they can and do glide from cliff to cliff using the stretchy membrane between their wings and feet, using their long tails as balance.
These birds sport no special abilities beyond that of the average bird, and aren't particularly dangerous even if provoked. They're quick to flee at the sign of danger, making good prey birds. Their feathers are often collected for trinkets and gifts.
Emperatura are mostly a warm black in color -- all beside their feathery membrane, crest, and tail, which are extremely colorful in contrast. The patterns on their membranes are never identical between birds, but they often resemble butterfly wings in pattern, having eyespots and geometric patterns. Females are duller in comparison to the males, and have warmer toned colors. The males are much more vibrant, and have cool toned patterns. Males also have a bigger crest and tail feathers. During the mating season, the males perform dances with their colorful feathers to win over females.
The Clans don't hold Emperatura to any spiritual regard, mostly only seeing them as prey animals with pretty plumage. Their cowardly attitude and lack of grace leaves not much to be admired.
