Glow Mice are PREY/NONTHREATENING.
Glow Mice are variants of the common field mouse, found deep within the caves of CavernClan and have adapted to their environment through magical evolution. They have black, rocky covered bodies that crackle and show their vibrant, glowing red and orange innards. Their rocky exteriors are thinnest around their bellies and haunches, which in turn, makes their bellies and haunches glow the brightest. While they aren't actually made of lava, they certainly look the part! They're found in the deepest parts of the caverns near lava chambers, seeking the warmth that radiates from within.
Glow Mice become more active at night and are always looking for food sources, seemingly voraciously hungry at all times. Aside from their constant hunt for food they're very social creatures with each other, complete with a complex social hierarchy akin to a wolf pack. Each Glow Mouse has a rank, with an alpha Glow Mouse leading the colony. The alpha is not always the biggest, strongest, or most aggressive Glow Mouse, more often than not being the father to most of the colony or the most confident and intelligent mouse. A good alpha Glow Mouse makes sure no mouse in the colony is hungry and has a place to sleep, and steps in to relieve tension and stop fighting. Beta Glow Mice are the second in command in the colony. Most colonies will have between one and four betas. These mice are dominant and act it, but are careful to not dominate the other betas or alpha. Gamma Glow Mice sit below betas and have a docile demenor, helping to keep the colony healthy. Gammas make up majority of the colony. Finally, the zeta mice are the lowest social tier in a colony. Zeta Glow Mice usually only socialize with the gamma Glow Mice, and may become outcasts in an unhealthy colony.
Despite their magical appearance, the Glow Mouse does not have any special abilities different than a normal field mouse.
Adult Glow Mice all have the same basic appearance -- rocky outer shell encapsulating a glowing, lava-like interior that glows through the skin and rocky pelt. The Glow Mouse has thin whiskers, narrow hind feet, and short, sharp claws; it's long, slender, glowing tail is used to aid in climbing and communication with other Glow Mice. However, how their pelt crackles is unique to each mouse. Some mice may have thinner skin and therefore glow more, and some might have less glow due to a rockier skin. The main variants in their appearance are mostly based upon age, as both male and female Glow Mice look the same. Baby Glow Mice have no rocky exterior at all and are particularly fragile as a result, while old Glow Mice are almost all rocky exterior and hardly any glow.
To the Clan cats, a Glow Mouse is just prey. A very delicious piece of prey, at that. Their rocky exterior isn't as hard as it looks, and can easily be crushed with teeth and turn to powder. That part doesn't taste like much, but their glowing innards are hot and goopy and sweet like honey. While the Glow Mouse holds no cultural or spiritual significance, it's an old Elder's tale that if you follow a Glow Mouse, you will find lava.
