Learning Experience
Creating a Time Capsule is a wonderful way for students to honor our school’s legacy and preserve its impact on the lives of those who attended. Students use strategies and steps listed below to gather historical facts and create a meaningful Time Capsule:
Research historical background on our school.
Interviews and Perspectives:
Students interview administrators, teachers, and staff members to uncover historical documents and personal stories related to the school.
Conduct mock interviews in class to practice effective questioning techniques.
Students learn how to conduct oral history interviews.
Research the history of AADAS thoroughly.
Know what questions to ask.
Establish rapport with interviewees.
Historical Documents:
Students collect and include various historical documents in the Time Capsule:
Yearbooks, photographs, and newspaper clippings.
Letters, essays, or personal reflections from alumni.
Artifacts like school uniforms, event programs, or trophies.
Students write narratives that capture the essence of our school’s impact. These narratives will accompany the documents in the Time Capsule.
Larger Audience Communication:
Students curate the Time Capsule’s contents and present them to a wider audience:
H21 LifeReady exhibition and a virtual showcase.
Share stories and artifacts.
Invite community members, alumni, and current students to engage with the Time Capsule.
