Learning Experience

Students designed “escape room” puzzles themed around Science standards. Each school traded their student-made escape room puzzles and provided each other feedback. Students applied the science content they learned to create interactive review games for other students at a neighboring school in the county. The collaboration provided students the opportunity to review and master science content as they designed the puzzles.

What did the student(s) learn about this experience:

"During these lessons I learned how to solve problems as a team. We were communicators because we were talking and solving problems together. It was difficult because you had to discuss with your team and think about the code and lock and how make the question with matter in science. We had to think about why and how we could solve it together. The easiest part was putting in the codes. This makes us life ready because it gives us skills to improve our problem solving. " - Shane L.

What did the teacher enjoy about this experience:

"Collaborating with our ILC in order to provide the students with a novel experience that challenged them in a unique way. I also enjoyed watching them in a productive struggle to solve the breakout. " - Emily Underwood
