Learning Experience

In this exploration of the contributions of  ancient Egypt, third grade students took part in multi-faceted learning experiences that allowed them to delve more deeply into the social studies content.  In Art class, students had the tactile experience of creating papyrus and creating messages with hieroglyphics.  Students also wrote original movie scripts and created their own BrainPop movies showcasing their knowledge of ancient Egyptian contributions.  Students practiced quality character as they monitored their independent learning,  held themselves accountable to deadlines, and  persevered through challenges encountered during the movie-making process.  The students reflected on their experiences through collaborative discussions and self-reflection on the learning process within each aspect of the experience. The culmination of their learning was transforming their classrooms into Egyptian museums in order to share their knowledge with their families at the schoolwide Student Showcase.
