Raising Awareness about Climate Change

Henrico Learner Profile (HLP) 6C Focus

11th and 12th Grade - Science

Learning Experience

Students were tasked with developing a project that they believed would raise awareness about or inspire action related to climate change. Each student chose different ways of addressing the challenge. For Henrico 21, we are sharing four of those projects: an outdoor classroom proposal; original code to determine an individual's carbon footprint; a fictional story to inspire a change in mindset; and

What did the student(s) learn about this experience:

"The journey towards implementing an outdoor classroom at Godwin High School has been both enlightening and challenging. Through research and insightful meetings, it is evident that such a space will foster academic benefits, environmental consciousness, and contribute to the happiness and community closeness of our school." - Ali

What did the teacher enjoy about this experience:

"All of these students impressed me with their very unique and creative approaches in dealing with the importance of combating climate change.  Each student went above and beyond my expectations for the assignment and I am so very proud of each of them.  One person may not be able to solve climate change, but with brilliant minds like these four we are certainly heading in the right direction." - Mike Fetsko
