Attitude, Outlook, Character & Perception

An often overlooked part of your "Self", Identity and "who you are", comes from your overall attitude and outlook on life.  It's a confusing cycle sometimes if you stop to think about it.  Your Attitude and Outlook often come from past events and influences just like behaviors   (see the Influences page and Spiritual  section unpacked) and ultimately, your typical attittude and outlook arrive from your personality

However, it's a cycle of activity as outlook and attitude continually contribute right back to you creating your personality.  This in turn develops into actions that people see as your character AND also affects your perception. Our perception directly relates back to our outlook and this goes right back to our actions/behaviors.

SIDE NOTE:  Many Conflicts can be prevented or solved by trying to see another person's side. Our perception is often misleading.     Below are common images that when we look at them, our eyes and brains can not see consistently (they change as we look at them longer or from different angles.)  How many conflicts have you been in that would've gone differently if you had more time to look at it or look at it from different angles?

Each one of the images above can mean different things

For the "dress - it means sometimes, it's impossible for you to see the other "thing" no matter what people try to tell you

For the "vase/candlestick - faces -  sometimes you see only what people tell you to see

For the "old woman vs young girl" , sometimes you have trouble seeing things until you are ablle t olook at it from a different angle

This is true with life too. Sometimes, what we think we see, isn't really what others see.  This can be positive and enlightening but it can also be destructive.

In the picture above and to the left, this perception is usually positive.  This picture is a common photo when promoting positive Body Image (see below).

How does this image change if it's used to relate to attitude?  How about taking on a challenge?  what about if that challenge is dangerous?  Think about it and record your responses in a journal or your notes.

But, be realistic... you wouldn't jump into the deep end if you are just learning how to swim and you wouldn't think you are getting married after just meeting someone....or would you?

Along with this, The picture to the right depicts how 2 people can see the same thing but have a totally different vantange point...similar to the illusion images above but more clearer, at times, it's just about how we look at things that causes the problem.

CHARACTER

Often defined by what you would do when nobody was watching OR the external manifestation of your inward self, character is simply your general types of behavior.
