The Abuse of Medications is an ongoing and potentially crippling problem in the United States.  The vast majority of problems you hear about in the media are associated with   Painkiller abuse .

Still, many people have addictions to a variety of medications including stimulants such as anti-depressants and anti-anxiety pills and depressants such as those used to aide in sleep.   Different types of Sleeping pills in fact, were the most common reason for Overdose in the 50's and 60's.  In addition, you know there is a history of abuse of certain steroids in athletics for enhanced performance

Any Drug can be misused or abused but some more than others. Typically, the most abused drugs are psychoactive drugs meaning, drugs that somehow affect the mind and give the user a high or intoxicating effect.  However, this is not always the case.  Below are the medication categories most often abused.  When there are two links, they are from two different sources
