VIOLENCE DEFINED & Explained

Merriam-Webster defines Violence as 

"the use of physical force so as to injure, abuse, damage, or destroy

That about sums it up but it can be way more detailed than that 

The WHO goes on to break violence into 3 main categories:

1) Acts of Self-directed violence (including self harm), 

2) Collective violence (violence between two groups) such as wars, gang fights and at times, opposing sides of non-peaceful protests.  

3) Interpersonal violence (which is the most common type of violence; where there is a victim and an aggressor) which can be further broken down into  family and intimate partner violence OR community violence
