25 - legacies

My post on Ultimate Dallas Forum from April 30, 2013 (episode also aired on April 15, 2013):

- Who killed JR?: I wish I hadn´t come around here the day before because there was a leak of the true "killer"´s identity (Bum) with pic and all. But I knew this could happen so I just checked out some thread titles anyway...I´m not sure if JR´s "suicide" is believable at all. I had a lot of trouble buying this resolution in 1991 but I did, for accepting that he was alive after all on JRR. Here the point was honoring both Larry and JR and nothing else would have been acceptable. Gary was a possible culprit that would have turned all the Knots fan base against the show, but I still think that this idea was in CC´s mind for awhile. Anybody who has read the Agatha Christie novels knows why I´m telling this...

Making Cliff JR´s "official" killer is a crappy thought anyway, and I´m quite sure that Kenny is disappointed and fearing he won´t be Cliff for any longer...Also, I´m beginning to get tired of the Ryland guy, his creepy mum and the nympho daughter. Tilton was right: Emma is a Lucy duplicate. All she has done, Lucy did it before and much better. Besides, Emma lacks the spark and sense of humor of Charlene, although she´s a good actress.

I think some of the things we didn´t like from the finale will somehow be corrected by CC in the hiatus, IF (and I hope so) the show is renewed for a third season. I hated Bobby´s cold reaction to Pam´s search, JR3 being unfaithful to PR so soon, Sue Ellen back to the bottle (bad sign that Linda agreed to do that), and, especially, the godawful scene with Elena and the Mexico Army of Drug-dealers (do we know that´s what they are?) which reminded me, and not for good, the nonsense BD Calhoun and Range War plots in TOS.

- Season 3: I hope that CC will realize how stupid some of these things have been and that they don´t deserve to be extended next season. One night stand of JR3 is not a bad thing plot-wise necessarily if this really goes somewhere: to show us that they love each other, or they despise each other. But just making them a new JR-SE marriage is plain dumb. PR is interesting enough to keep her with JR´s son, because it sort of continues the Dallas tradition: a Barnes marrying a Ewing. About Sue Ellen, I want her to be sober, independent and putting her sight on someone more appealing than the Bionic Man. A little feud with Afton would great too now they´re related.

About Bobby, they do need to rewrite the character and rewatch the old series. They´ve gone too far: he´s become the maker of his dead brother´s wishes. What if JR left him another letter saying: If Sue Ellen dates someone, just send Bum to get her a new face? Bobby needs an injection of personality and also kicking his son´s ass once in awhile. I can´t really imagine where CC can take Ann and I don´t care either: she makes the Desperate Housewives the deepest character study in TV history. I´m looking forward to know who CC is going to bring back next season: Lucy, Ray, Gary, Afton? One of them full-time would be enough for me because those cameos are offensive for our beloved actors. About the new characters, they will probably be "expendable" so she will be able to kill them off whenever she wants to. Oh and ms. Cidre, remember that the funeral episode was fantastic, but one episode doesn´t make a fantastic season!! I did like the penultimate more than the finale.
