1/76: "THE PEOPLE VS. GARY EWING" ("EL PUEBLO CONTRA GARY EWING")

KAREN está muy preocupada por la desaparición de DIANA. MACK está seguro de que CHIP asesinó a CIJI, y solicita la orden de búsqueda y captura de ambos. VAL es acosada por los periodistas y un misterioso hombre la ayuda a escabullirse de los periodistas. ABBY está furiosa porque MITCH sigue defendiendo a GARY. Éste le dice que no puede despedirle porque trabaja para él. GARY se da cuenta de que no puede confiar en ABBY. En el estrado, JANET admite que GARY fue acusado por el modo en que realizó su declaración, y que existen otros sospechosos. El juez retira los cargos contra él, que busca con la vista a VAL y le sonríe. ABBY se percata de ello y le abraza enseguida, aunque él continúa sonriendo a su ex mujer.  

Karen is very upset that Diana's gone. Mack is sure that Chip killed Ciji, and they put out an APB for them. Val is dogged by reporters. A "mystery man" helps her escape them. Abby is mad that Mitch is still defending Gary. He tells Abby that she can't fire him, as Gary is his client. Gary's mad and says he can't trust Abby. On the stand, Janet admits that Gary was charged because of the way he worded his statement, and that there are other suspects. The judge drops Gary's charges and releases him. Ecstatic, Gary looks around for Val, catches her eye and smiles at her. Abby sees this and quickly hugs him, but Gary continues to smile at Val.

2/77: "FUGITIVES" ("FUGITIVOS")

VAL conoce al misterioso BEN GIBSON en la playa, pero le rehúye al saber que es periodista. GARY adquiere un rancho e invita a ABBY a vivir con él. MACK consigue que el FBI colabore para localizar a DIANA y CHIP. Por su parte, ella paga la gasolina con su tarjeta de crédito y, cuando pasan la noche en un motel, ve alarmada por televisión una noticia que habla de CHIP. Éste rompe a llorar y le confiesa que se acostó con CIJI antes de conocerla a ella. Le explica que CIJI iba a contarle a DIANA que estaba embarazada para provocar su ruptura, y que, temeroso de perderla, se enzarzó en una discusión con CIJI y la golpeó, sin intención de matarla. Asegura que fue un accidente, pero lo hizo para poder estar con DIANA.

Val runs into her "mystery man" Ben Gibson while jogging on the beach. He admits he doesn't jog and was just doing it to meet her. They go to dinner, but Val leaves when she learns he's a reporter. Gary buys a ranch and tells Abby he wants her to move there with him. She's mortified. Mac has the FBI help find Diana and Chip. On the road, Diana pays for gas with her credit card. At a motel, she sees a news story about Chip and is unnerved. Chip starts to cry and tells Diana that he slept with Ciji before he met her. He says Ciji was going to tell Diana she was pregnant to break them up. Chip said he was scared he would lose her, so he and Ciji got into an argument and that he hit her, but didn't mean to kill her. He claims it was an accident, but that he did it so he and Diana could be together.

3/78: "NOWHERE TO RUN" ("SIN ESCAPATORIA")

GARY y ABBY se trasladan al rancho, pero ella conserva una oficina-apartamento en la ciudad. Ella y su abogado WESTMONT crean una empresa subsidiaria de la de GARY, quien a su vez le pide a LAURA que sea su asesora de inversiones y vigile a ABBY. Por fin, CHIP y DIANA son localizados en Oklahoma, y KAREN y MACK viajan hasta allí. DIANA asegura a CHIP que le ama. Después de pasar la noche en un almacén abandonado, descubren que la policía les ha puesto cerco. Finalmente, CHIP es arrestado y, cuando KAREN intenta abrazar a DIANA, ella la aparta y corre hacia el coche de la policía para decirle a CHIP que le quiere. Cuando un periodista interroga a DIANA, ella responde "No me llamo Fairgate. Soy la esposa de TONY FENICE." 

Abby and Gary move to the ranch. Abby gets an office in town - complete with an apartment. She and Westmont secretly start a subsidiary of Gary's company. Gary offers Laura a position as his real estate investor and asks her to keep an eye on Abby. Police find that Diana used her credit card in Oklahoma, so Karen and Mac fly there. Diana assures Chip she loves him. After being spotted by a state trooper, they take off down a dirt road. They find an abandoned shack. The next morning, Chip and Diana find they are surrounded by police, and Chip pretends to hold Diana hostage. A policeman shoots, which causes confusion, and Chip is arrested. Karen tries to hug Diana, but Diana pushes her away, and runs to a police car and tells Chip she loves him. A reporter asks Diana a question, and she replies "It's not Miss Fairgate. It's Mrs. Tony Fenice."

4/79: "MARITAL PRIVILEGES" ("PRIVILEGIOS MARITALES")

DIANA, segura de que CHIP mató a CIJI por su causa, se instala en el rancho de GARY, tras decirle a KAREN que no quiere volver a verla. LILIMAE va a ver a CHIP, pero este se burla de ella, y la mujer adivina que asesinó a CIJI. ABBY descubre que tiene 5 días para casarse con GARY, después de su divorcio de VAL y antes de que herede su 10% de la EWING OIL, por lo que se apresura a poner en marcha APALOON CORP. Además, le pide a LAURA que inspeccione un edificio de apartamentos que su tío le ha dejado en herencia. MACK se reencuentra con su viejo amigo GREGORY SUMNER, candidato al Senado, y este le pide que se una a su equipo. VAL no quiere recibir compensación económica en su divorcio de GARY. BEN le confiesa que no quería escribir sobre ella, sino poder conocerla, y acuerdan volver a empezar como amigos.

Diana tells Karen that Chip killed Ciji for her. Karen says she'll testify, but Janet says they need Diana. Furious, Diana tells Karen she never wants to see her again, and moves to the ranch with Abby. Lilimae goes to see Chip, who laughs at her. She realizes he killed Ciji. Abby finds out that Gary will inherit 10% of Ewing Oil in 15 days and his divorce is final in 10, so she'll have 5 days to marry him in order to get half of his inheritance. Abby finalizes the papers on her subsidiary, "Apaloon Corp." She asks Laura to check out an apartment building that her uncle left her. Gregory Sumner, a candidate for the Senate, is an old friend of Mac's, and asks him to be part of his team. Val doesn't ask for money at her and Gary's divorce settlement. Val sees Ben, who explains he doesn't want a story but wants to get to know her, and they agree to be friends.

5/80: "ONE KIND OF JUSTICE" ("UNA CLASE DE JUSTICIA")

GARY y ABBY acuden a la fiesta para recaudar fondos que celebra GREG y el primero realiza una donación. VAL y BEN también están allí, y ella le presenta a este a GARY. GREG pide a MACK que encabece su comisión anticrimen. KAREN y ERIC van a ver a DIANA al rancho, pero la primera acaba discutiendo con su hija y el joven abofetea a su hermana. LILIMAE intenta convencer a CHIP y DIANA para que declaren que él mató a CIJI, porque debe pagar por su crimen. JANET le informa que, dado que ambos se niegan a ello, no tienen suficientes pruebas para retener a CHIP y lo liberarán al día siguiente. LILIMAE decide hablar con él una vez más, y KAREN accede a intermediar con DIANA. Cuando llegan a la comisaría, CHIP ya está en libertad y lo entrevistan los periodistas. LILIMAE aprieta el acelerador y atropella a CHIP con el coche.  

Gary and Abby go to Greg's fundraiser and Gary donates money to him. Val and Ben are there, and she introduces Gary and Ben. Greg asks Mac to head up his crime commission. Karen and Eric go to the ranch to see Diana. Diana goes off on Karen, and Eric slaps Diana. Lilimae tries to convince both Chip and Diana to testify that he killed Ciji because he has to pay for his crime. Janet tells Lilimae that since Chip won't confess and Diana won't testify, they don't have enough to hold Chip and he'll be released the next day. Lilimae decides to try and talk to him one last time, and brings Karen to talk to Diana. As they pull up, Chip has already been released and is talking to reporters. Lilimae revs the gas and hits Chip with her car.

6/81: "...AND NEVER BROUGHT TO MIND" ("Y NADIE VOLVIÓ A RECORDARLE")

LILIMAE es arrestada y GARY se ofrece a pagar su fianza, pero VAL prefiere pagarla ella misma. CHIP entra en coma poco después. DIANA culpa de ello a su madre. LAURA informa a ABBY de que el apartamento de LOTUS POINT le pertenece al 50% a ella y a KAREN. ABBY quiere que esta le venda su parte, pero ella se niega. ABBY insinúa a GARY que deberían casarse y él responde que quiere esperar. LILIMAE irrumpe en el dormitorio de GARY y ABBY en busca de DIANA. ABBY le asegura que, si la lleva a su casa, cuando vuelva ella ya no estará. GARY lo hace igualmente y, al ver preocupada a VAL, la consuela y acaban pasando la noche juntos. Cuando vuelve al rancho, ABBY se dispone a marcharse. VAL confiesa a MACK que ha dormido con GARY y se siente feliz. GARY hace lo propio con LAURA y le dice que es estupendo que puedan ser amigos sin ataduras. VAL lleva a su madre a la consulta de una psiquiatra, la Dra. BOVANE. 

Lilimae is arrested, and Gary wants to pay her bail. Val says no, she'll pay it. Chip is rushed to surgery. He wakes up but later goes into a coma. Diana blames Karen for running him over. Laura tells Abby that the apartment her uncle left her at Lotus Point was left to Sid, too, so Karen owns half. Abby instructs her to buy Karen out, but Karen won't sell. Abby suggests to Gary they get married. He says he wants to wait. Lilimae bursts into Gary and Abby's bedroom, looking for Diana. Abby says if Gary brings her home, she's leaving. Gary takes Lilimae home anyway. Val's upset, so Gary comforts her and they sleep together. When he gets home, Abby's leaving. Val tells Mac she slept with Gary and is happy. Gary tells Laura about it and says how it's great that they can be friends with no strings. Val has a psychiatrist, Dr. Bovane, see Lilimae.

7/82: "SACRED VOWS" ("VOTOS SAGRADOS")

ERIC visita a DIANA en el hospital y le dice que se alegra de SID ya no esté entre ellos, recordándole que murió para poder llevar ante la justicia a alguien, y la habría decepcionado. Finalmente DIANA accede a testificar. LAURA le dice a GARY que cree que, para VAL, él es como su alcoholismo, y que debería dejarla en paz si no piensa volver con ella, ya que lo contrario sería una crueldad. GARY accede a casarse con ABBY, y así lo hacen. La Dra. BOVINE aconseja ingresar a LILIMAE en la clínica LAKEVAIL, pero en el momento de dejarla allí, la anciana le pide que no la abandone y rompen a llorar. Una vez en casa, VAL llama a GARY en busca de apoyo moral. OLIVIA responde al teléfono y le dice que se han ido de luna de miel. En el hotel donde se hospedan, GARY se encuentra a una camarera que es la doble idéntica de CIJI, y se queda mirándola atónito. 

Eric goes to the hospital and tells Diana that he's glad that Sid isn't around. He reminds Diana that Sid died in order to bring someone to justice, and would be disgusted with her. Diana tells the police that she will testify. Laura tells Gary that he is to Val as alcohol is to him, and that if he doesn't have plans to get back together with her, he needs to leave her alone, as stringing her along is cruel. Gary tells Abby he'll marry her, and they do. Dr. Bovine suggests that Lilimae is put in Lakevail Sanitarium. At Lakevail, Lilimae begs Val not to leave her there, and they both cry. At home, Val calls Gary for support. Olivia answers and tells Val that Gary and Abby are on their honeymoon. At the hotel, Gary orders room service. The waitress looks exactly like Ciji, and Gary is dumbfounded.

8/83: "A CHANGE OF HEART" ("CAMBIO DE OPINIÓN")

VAL confiesa a BEN que se acostó con GARY, y él se marcha preocupado. KAREN sigue padeciendo dolores de espalda. MACK la convence para que acudan a un especialista, que le receta analgésicos. GARY descubre que la doble de CIJI se llama CATHY GEARY, y empieza a seguirla. ABBY informa a WESTMONT que va a desarrollar LOTUS POINT, y consigue el control de la administración del edicio, "H & O Management", para poder continuar enviándole los cheques a KAREN sin que ella se entere. LAURA emborracha a WESTMONT para descubrir lo que pretende ABBY. GARY recibe su herencia. DIANA declara que CHIP mató accidentalmente a CIJI, pero luego él sale del coma. La policía lo esposa a su cama y decide trasladarlo al Hospital del Condado, pero cuando van a buscarlo a su habitación, ha desaparecido. 

Val tells Ben about sleeping with Gary. Ben is upset and leaves. Karen's still upset over Diana and is having back pains. Mac convinces her to go to the Doctor, and she gets pain pills. Gary finds out that the Ciji look-alike is Cathy Geary, and he follows her. Abby tells Westmont that she is going to develop Lotus Point, and buys the apartment's management, H & O Management so she can continue to send Karen checks, and Karen will never know. Laura gets Westmont drunk to see what Abby's up to, and he tells her about H & O. Gary receives his inheritance. Diana gives a deposition that Chip 'accidentally' killed Ciji, but then he wakes up from the coma. The police handcuff him to the bed. The police decide to move Chip to County Hospital, but when they go to his room to get him, he's gone.

9/84: "MONEY TALKS" ("EL DINERO MANDA")

MACK visita a TOM JESSICK, un abogado amigo suyo que mandó a la cárcel, y le dice que quiere que forme parte de la comisión anti-crimen. La hija de GREG, MARY FRANCES, acude a casa de los MacKENZIE enfadada porque su padre ha olvidado recogerla en la escuela. KAREN la invita a pasar una temporada con ellos. La policía patrulla el rancho en busca de CHIP. CATHY confía a GARY que pensaba que él podía haber sido enviado por su ex marido ROY para localizarla. Él le ofrece un empleo y alojamiento en el rancho. ABBY averigua que necesitará un permiso costero para construir Lotus Point y le pide ayuda a GREG. 

Después de hacer el amor, él le asegura que un miembro de la comisión costera le concederá una cita: "Si tuviera que elegir entre el amor y el dinero, siempre elegiría el dinero" - añade ella. LAURA le dice a ABBY que conoce la existencia de "H & O", pero no le dirá nada a GARY si le da "un trozo del pastel". VAL prepara una cena romántica para BEN, pero luego se enfurece y se marcha cuando él da por sentado que se acostarán. Pero regresa y acaba pasando la noche con él. 

Mac visits Tom Jessick, an attorney friend that he sent to jail and says he wants him on the crime commission. Greg's at the McKenzie's and his daughter Mary Frances comes by, angry that he forgot to pick her up. Karen invites Mary Frances to stay with them. Police patrol the ranch for Chip. Cathy tells Gary that she thought he might be someone her ex-husband Roy sent to find her. Gary invites Cathy to live and work at the ranch. Abby finds out she'll need a coastal variance to develop Lotus Point, and asks Greg for help. 

They sleep together, and he says that a member of the coastal commission will meet with her. ABBY tells him: "If I ever have to make a choice between love and money, money's going to win every time." Laura tells Abby she knows about H & O, but won't tell Gary for a piece of the action. Val makes a romantic meal for Ben. She gets mad and leaves when he assumes she will sleep with him. Later, she goes back, and she and Ben make love.

10/85: "HOMECOMING" ("VUELTA A CASA")

GARY le compra a CIJI un vestido parecido a uno de CIJI y hace que le corten el pelo como lo llevaba ella. Además la hace cantar en "playback" uno de los temas del álbum de CIJI. LAURA lo presencia y se enfada con él. GARY afirma que lo hace porque no pudo ayudar a CIJI, pero ahora tiene la oportunidad de ayudar a alguien. MARY FRANCES encuentra a GREG y ABBY juntos y sospecha la verdad. Más tarde besa a ERIC. MACK dice a KAREN que cree que usa a la hija de GREG para sustituir a DIANA. Unos socios de SUMNER le exigen que se deshaga de MACK porque se está acercando a la verdad. BEN y VAL van a buscar a LILIMAE a la clínica, en contra de los deseos de la Dra. BOVINE. DIANA le lleva comida a CHIP, oculto en el establo del rancho. 

Gary buys Cathy a dress like Ciji's and brings her to get her hair cut like Ciji. He also has her lip sync to Ciji's album. Laura walks in and is angry. Gary says he's doing it because he couldn't help Ciji, but now he has a chance to help someone else. Mary Frances walks in on Greg and Abby and is upset. She and Eric kiss. Mac tells Karen she's using Mary Frances to replace Diana. Karen continues taking pain pills. Mac is on to something and Tom Jessick is the link. Some men meet with Sumner and tell him to drop Mac, because he's getting too close. Ben goes with Val to bring Lilimae home, against Dr. Bovine's wishes. Diana brings chicken to the barn at the ranch, where Chip is hiding.

11/86. "I'LL TELL YOU NO LIES" ("NO TE CONTARÉ MENTIRAS")

MACK interroga a TOM sobre un abogado llamado CAVANAUGH, jefe del grupo WOLFBRIDGE. MACK quiere que TOM se reincorpore al grupo como un infiltrado para él. GARY pide a CATHY que cante para él, pero ella se enfurece y le repite que no es CIJI y nunca lo será. GREG le concede a ABBY el permiso que necesita, y, mientras se besan, LAURA entra en el despacho. VAL está preocupada por el extraño comportamiento de KAREN, que se excusa diciéndole que se debe al agotamiento, aunque sigue tomando analgésicos. El detective Nick Morrison coloca a un policía en el rancho. CHIP le dice a DIANA que tienen que marcharse al día siguiente. Cuando DIANA vuelve al establo para ver a CHIP, CATHY entra en él y CHIP se queda atónito al verla, creyendo que es CIJI. Asustado, va dando pasos atrás para alejarse de ella y acaba cayendo sobre una horca. La policía y DIANA corren hacia el establo al oír gritar a la joven: CHIP ha muerto.  

Mac questions Tom about whether a lawyer named Cavanaugh is the head of the Wolfbridge group. Mac wants Tom to go back to them as an 'inside' man. Gary asks Cathy to sing for him. She gets upset and tells him she's not Ciji, and never will be. Greg gives Abby the coastal variance she needs. They begin kissing, and then notice that Laura is watching them. Val is worried because Karen is acting so strange. Karen tells her she's tired and continues to take more pills. Detective Nick Morrison posts a policeman on the ranch. Chip tells Diana they need to leave the next day. Diana goes to meet Chip. Chip is hiding in the stable. Cathy walks in. Chip is dumbfounded, thinking she's Ciji. Frightened, he scrambles to get away from her and falls on a pitchfork. Police and Diana run to the stable when they hear Cathy screaming. Chip's dead.

12/87: "DENIALS" ("NEGATIVAS")

TOM informa a MACK que WOLFBRIDGE es más importante de lo que pensaba, y luego le llama desde la estación de autobuses para decirle que se marcha de la ciudad porque no vale la pena poner su vida en peligro. La hermana de CHIP, ANGIE FENICE, asiste al funeral de CHIP, y le dice a DIANA que CHIP era un miserable y que ella era una más en una larga lista de mujeres que él utilizó y deshechó. DIANA la abofetea y, más tarde, ABBY le confía que los primeros amores nunca duran. DIANA le responde que lo suyo no era un capricho de adolescente, sino que el muerto era su marido. GREG advierte a ABBY que le está confiando demasiado a LAURA, por lo cual ABBY le dice a esta que no les moleste, ya que ella es una experta en el juego y LAURA es sólo una principiante. VAL informa a MACK de que KAREN está abusando de las pastillas, y ERIC lo confirma. KAREN les oye hablar y empieza a gritarles que no tiene ningún problema. 

Tom tells Mac that Wolfbridge is bigger than he thought, and later calls Mac from the bus station and says he's leaving town because it's not worth giving up his life. Chip's sister Angie comes to town for Chip's funeral. Angie tells Diana that Chip's a louse and Diana's only 1 in a long line of women that Chip used and threw away. Diana slaps her. Abby talks to Diana and says first loves never last. Diana angrily responds that it wasn't a schoolgirl crush, it was her husband who died. Greg tells Abby that she's telling Laura too much. Abby tells Laura to lay off, because she's a master at the game Laura's just learning to play. Val tells Mac that Karen's in trouble with her pills, and Eric concurs. Karen overhears them and screams at them all that she doesn't have a problem.

La esposa de GREG, JANE SUMNER, llega a la ciudad y él no puede seguir viéndose con ABBY. MACK pide ayuda a GREG para localizar a TOM. Al mismo tiempo, el político recibe un ultimátum: si no se deshace de MACK, dejarán de financiar su campaña. CATHY acude a ABBY para decirle que ya no quiere seguir con su plan de representar a CIJI para no hacer daño a GARY. ABBY se niega en redondo. VAL termina su libro "Nashville Junction", que trata de la vida de LILIMAE. BEN le pide a VAL que se comprometa con él, pero ella descubre que está embarazada de tres meses, y GARY es el padre. 

Jane Sumner comes to town, so Greg can't pay attention to Abby. Mac asks Greg to help him find Tom Jessick. A man tells Greg to get rid of Mac or they'll drop his campaign. Cathy goes to Abby and says she wants out of their deal for her to impersonate Ciji, because she doesn't want to hurt Gary, but Abby won't let her. Val and Mac are concerned about Karen. Val finishes her book "Nashville Junction" about Lilimae's life. Ben asks Val for more of a commitment. Then Val finds out she is three months pregnant with Gary's baby.

VAL informa a LILIMAE que está embarazada y ella se lo cuenta a BEN, creyendo que ya lo sabe. VAL confiesa que el bebé es de GARY y la noticia preocupa a BEN. CATHY y GARY se besan, pero él no quiere serle infiel a ABBY. MACK inform a GREG que tiene pruebas en contra de WOLFBRIDGE. El despacho y la casa de MACK son saqueados. LAURA les hace una oferta a los MARCUS para adquirir su propiedad en LOTUS POINT, pero el matrimonio la rechaza. MARK ST. CLAIRE hace una visita a ABBY como representante de WOLFBRIDGE, y le asegura que serán socios en LOTUS POINT. ABBY se opone y él le dice que no tiene elección: si no coopera, hará que su permiso sea revocado. KAREN registra el cuarto de baño de VAL en busca de analgésicos, y cuando vuelve a casa, ni siquiera se percata de que su hogar está patas arriba. Consigue que el médico le extienda otra receta y, poco después, MACK la encuentra inconsciente en la bañera junto a un frasco vacío de pastillas.      

Val tells Lilimae she's pregnant, and Lilimae inadvertently tells Ben. Val admits to him that the baby is Gary's, and Ben's upset. Cathy and Gary kiss, but Gary says he won't cheat on Abby. Mac tells Greg he has evidence on Wolfbridge. Mac's office and the McKenzie home is ransacked. Laura offers money to the Marcus's, to buy their property on Lotus Point, but they won't sell. Mark St. Claire goes to see Abby and says that he represents Wolfbridge, and they will be her partners in Lotus Point. Abby refuses, and Mark says she has no choice. If she doesn't cooperate, they will have her variance revoked. Karen ransacks Val's bathroom looking for pills, and is so out of it, she doesn't even notice her house has been trashed. Karen calls the Doctor and gets a refill. Mac finds Karen passed out in the shower with the empty bottle of pills beside her.

15/90: "FORSAKING ALL OTHERS" ("RENUNCIANDO A LOS DEMÁS")

MACK consigue que KAREN acceda a inscribirse en un programa para combatir la dependencia química, aunque ella sigue negando que tenga un problema. ABBY se enfada con GREG por implicarla con ST. CLAIRE. Éste la informa de que la casa de los MARCUS ha desaparecido en un incendio, y ABBY ordena a LAURA que les haga otra oferta. ST. CLAIRE amenaza a GREG con revelar información comprometida sobre él a su oponente. Por ello, GREG convoca una rueda de prensa para anunciar que MACK ha abusado de su poder al conseguir el permiso para la propiedad de KAREN en LOTUS POINT, y él le ha pedido que dimita. MACK interroga a KAREN sobre ello y ella le dice que ha recibido cheques pero no sabe nada más. GARY irrumpe en las oficinas de ABBY y le comunica que piensa realizar una auditoría de su empresa. MARY FRANCES pide disculpas a los MACKENZIE en nombre de GREG y vuelve a SACRAMENTO. JANE reprocha a GREG que anteponga las elecciones a la amistad. Al final GREG gana las primarias para el Senado.

Mac has Karen admitted to a hospital chemical dependency program. Karen denies she has a problem. Abby is angry at Greg for getting her involved with Mark St. Claire. Mark tells Abby that the Marcus house has burned down, so Abby tells Laura to make them another offer. St. Claire tells Greg he has one more chance to drop Mac, or else he will give incriminating information to his opponent. Greg has a press conference and says that Mac abused his power and got a variance for Karen's property on Lotus Point, and so he's asked Mac to resign. Mac questions Karen about Lotus Point. She says she gets checks but doesn't remember anything else. Gary barges into Abby's office and says he is going to have her books audited. Jane and Mary Francis apologize to the MacKenzies for Greg and go back to Sacramento. Jane berates Greg for making the election more important than friendship. Greg wins the primary race.

Abby y Westmont intentan mantener a APALOON fuera de los documentos relacionados con las propiedades inmobiliarias. La auditoría da resultados positivos y GARY se disculpa ante ABBY. Por otro lado, observa que gana mucho más que los demás empleados y esos ingresos son previos a la fecha en que se conocieron. GARY contrata a un detective que averigua que CATHY pasó los últimos cuatro años en la cárcel. BEN y MACK descubren que APALOON es dueña de LOTUS POINT con excepción del apartamento de ABBY y KAREN, y sospechan que es la subsidiaria es una tapadera de WOLFBRIDGE. GREG y LAURA pasan la noche juntos. KAREN padece síndrome de abstinencia. GARY va a verla y le asegura que, si él pudo superar esa situación, ella también podrá. KAREN se siente ofendida porque compara ambos problemas. MACK cree que es víctima de un complot. BEN pide a VAL que diga a los demás que el niño es de GARY, ya que está harto de que todo el mundo murmure sobre el tema. 

Abby and Westmont scramble to get Apaloon off of real estate documents. The audit goes well and Gary apologizes to Abby. Gary sees that Cathy makes much more than the other ranch hands, and that they are dated from before he met her. Gary hires a detective who says Cathy spent the last 4 years in prison. Ben and Mac discover that Apaloon owns all the property at Lotus point except for Abby and Karen's apartment. They think Apaloon is a front for Wolfbridge. Greg and Laura sleep together. Karen suffers from withdrawal. Gary goes to see her and says if he could get through it, she can. Karen is outraged that he would compare her plight with his therapist wants Mac in on her therapy too. Mac feels they're ganging up on him. Ben tells Val to tell people that the baby is Gary's, as he's tired of everyone bugging him about it, and he wants to be free of her.

GARY descubre que CATHY fue condenada por cometer un asesinato en segundo grado y, al preguntarle sobre ello a ABBY, ésta le dice a CATHY que se marche y la amenaza con informar a su ex marido de su paradero. La joven le responde que, si lo hace, le dirá a GARY que la contrató para distraer su atención y poder desviar su dinero con más libertad. ABBY termina por llamar a RAY. GREG cancela una cita con ella para verse con LAURA. MACK acude al fiscal para informarle que podría ser inhabilitado y luego averigua que la dirección de APALOON es en realidad un apartado de correos. BEN comunica a VAL que ha aceptado un reportaje en Sudamérica, pero ella no quiere que vaya. MICHAEL, ERIC y GARY median con DIANA para que se reconcilie con KAREN, y acaban haciendo las paces. MACK pide a ERIC que lleve un sobre naranja a APALOON para ver quién lo recoge: LAURA.

Gary finds out that Cathy was in prison for 2nd-degree murder. He asks Abby about it. Abby tells Cathy to leave and threatens to tell her ex-husband Ray where she is. Cathy counters that if she does, she'll tell Gary that Abby hired her to distract him so she could steal him blind. Abby calls Ray. Greg breaks a date with Abby and sleeps with Laura. Mac goes to the DA who tells him that he might be disbarred. Mac goes to the Apaloon address and finds out it's a mail service. Some guys beat him up. Ben tells Val he is taking a job in South America, and Val doesn't want him to. They hug. Michael, Eric and Gary talk to Diana about making up with Karen. Finally, Diana and Karen make up. Mac has Eric drop off a bright orange mailer for Apaloon at the mail service, and then watches to see who picks it up. He sees Laura go in and come out with the bright orange mailer.

RAY, el ex marido de CATHY, se presenta en el rancho e intenta recuperar el amor de CATHY. Pasan la noche juntos y deciden marcharse al día siguiente. CATHY se despide de GARY lamentando haberles complicado la vida. Pero RAY cambia de opinión y prefiere quedarse para obtener su parte de la fortuna de GARY. CATHY confiesa a este el motivo de su condena. BEN pide a VAL que la acompañe a EL SALVADOR pero ella le dice que no, debido a su embarazo. MACK exige a LAURA la verdad sobre APALOON y ella le responde que pertenece a ST. CLAIRE. Este llama a LAURA y le ordena que corte sus lazos con MACK y amenaza a sus hijos, lo cual hace que ella se comporte de forma paranoica. Al final, le dice a MACK que le dirá todo lo que sabe si la ayuda, y le informa de que APALOON es una empresa de ABBY. 

Ray comes to the Ranch and sweet talks Cathy. They sleep together and decide to leave the next day. Cathy says goodbye to Gary and cries about messing everything up. Then Ray decides he wants her to stay and get a piece of Gary's fortune. Cathy tells Gary she was in jail for murder and he hugs her. Ben asks Val to go to El Salvador with him, but she says no as she's pregnant. Mac follows Laura and demands to know about Apaloon. Laura says it's Mark St. Claire's company. St.Claire calls Laura and says to sever her ties with Mac and threatens her children. Laura starts to get a lot of hang up calls and becomes very paranoid. Finally, Laura tells Mac that she'll tell him what she knows if he'll help her. Laura tells him that Apaloon is Abby's company.

19/94: "SO SHALL YOU REAP" ("LO QUE SIEMBRES, RECOGERÁS")

BEN propone a VAL que eduquen juntos al niño como si fuera suyo y ella acepta. CATHY revela a GARY que mató a un hombre en defensa propia (aunque en realidad asumió la culpa por un crimen que cometió RAY). Le cuenta que ABBY la contrató para poder hacer negocios a sus anchas, pero se ha enamorado de él. MACK le hace una visita a ABBY, pero ella lo niega todo. Le cuenta que a WESTMONT que, si GARY se entera y le pone un pleito, ella lo ganaría declarando que es mentalmente inestable por haber intentado revivir a CIJI, una mujer muerta.  GREG convoca otra rueda de prensa para informar que el permiso lo consiguió ABBY y vuelve a contratar a MACK. GARY se enfrenta con ABBY, que finge inocencia, pero él pierde la paciencia y empieza a romper cosas y a gritarle que salga de su vida. ABBY acude a GREG, sólo para encontrarlo en la cama con LAURA. ABBY intenta hablar con GARY, pero este le dice que contacte con él a través de su abogado. 

Ben proposes to Val and says he'll raise the baby as his own. She accepts.Cathy tells Gary that she killed a man in self-defense (but she really took the blame for a murder that Ray committed). She says Abby hired her to divert him from her business dealings, but she fell in love with him. Laura tells the MacKenzies about Apaloon and Mark St. Claire. Mack barges into Abby's office, but she denies knowing anything. She tells Westmont if Gary finds out and sues her she would win. She can claim he's mentally unstable because he's been trying to re-create Ciji, a dead girl. Greg gives a press conference saying Abby got the variance and re-instates Mac. Gary confronts Abby, who feigns innocence. He loses it and starts trashing the room and screams at her to get out of his life. Abby runs to Greg's, only to find him in bed with Laura. Abby tries to talk to Gary, but he tells her to contact him through his lawyer.

GARY congela los activos de sus empresas y sella las oficinas. Cuando VAL se resiente por el dolor causado por el embarazo, su médico le prohíbe que acompañe a BEN en su viaje. Cuando ABBY ordena a CATHY que se vaya del rancho, GARY le da permiso a esta para que se quede todo el tiempo que quiera. ABBY se opone al divorcio. Más tarde, GARY y CATHY consuman su relación. Cuando MACK retoma su puesto en la comisión a petición del gobernador, GREG empieza a sospechar de sus intenciones.

Gary freezes the assets of Gary Ewing Enterprises and seals the office. When Val is overcome by pain from her pregnancy, her doctor forbids her to accompany Ben to El Salvador. After Abby orders Cathy off the ranch, Gary tells Cathy that she may stay as long as she wishes. When Gary says that he intends to file for divorce, Abby says she doesn't want a divorce. Later, Gary and Cathy consummate their relationship. When Mack resumes his job on the crime commission upon a request from the governor, Sumner becomes suspicious of Mack's intentions.

VAL despide preocupada a BEN cuando se marcha a EL SALVADOR. Más tarde le informan de que espera gemelos. CATHY ofrece a RAY 5.000 dólares por marcharse pero él los rechaza y le da una paliza. VAL recibe una llamada en la que le comunican que BEN y otras dos personas han desaparecido, tras ser atacado su "jeep" cuando se dirigían a un campamento rebelde. MACK finge haber abandonado la investigación sobre WOLFBRIDGE, y garantiza inmunidad a ABBY si le ayuda a detenerlos. Luego le dice a TOM que ella se ha creído que necesita su ayuda y seguramente ya se lo ha contado a WOLFBRIDGE. GARY congela los activos de ABBY, y ST. CLAIRE le dice a GREG que los descongele. 

Val is upset as Ben leaves for El Salvador. She finds out she's having twins. She gets a call saying Ben and 2 others were on their way to a rebel encampment and their jeep was hit, and the men are missing. Cathy gives Ray $5,000 to leave, but he won't. He grabs Cathy by the hair and Gary sees and beats him up. Ray say's they'll pay for this. Gary and Cathy sleep together. Mac, back on the crime commission, pretends he's no longer going after Wolfbridge but tells Abby he'll grant her immunity if she'll help him go after them. Abby tells Greg. Mac tells Tom Jessick that Abby bought that he needed her help and has already probably told Wolfbridge. Gary has Abby's assets frozen, and St. Claire tells Greg that it's his problem to unfreeze them.

GREG intenta que GARY descongele sus activos, pero este se lo cuenta a MACK, que le aconseja lo contrario. RAY espía a CATHY y GARY, quien a su vez asegura a KAREN que, si ABBY le ha estafado, él hará lo correcto. VAL se entera de que los hombres que acompañaban a BEN han muerto e intenta ir a verle, pero KAREN le recuerda que sólo conseguiría poner a sus hijos en peligro. VAL llama a GARY y este la invita a ir al rancho. Cuando MACK habla con GARY, se oye un disparo y llama a KAREN para decirle que alguien ha asesinado a GARY. En ese momento, llega el coche de VAL.

Greg tries to get Gary to unfreeze his assets. Gary reports this to Mac who tells him to keep the assets frozen, as it will force Wolfbridge's hand. Ray spies on Gary and Cathy. Gary tells Karen that if Abby cheated her, he will make it right. Val finds out that the other 2 men with Ben were found dead. She wants to go to El Salvador, but Karen says she will only be putting her babies at risk. Val's upset and calls Gary, sobbing, who tells her to come out to the ranch. Mac drives out to the ranch and is talking to Gary when a shot rings out. Mac calls Karen and tells her that Gary has been murdered. Just then Val drives up.

23/98. "FINISHING TOUCHES" ("LOS ÚLTIMOS RETOQUES")

GARY ha sido asesinado y VAL está conmocionada, al igual que ABBY. CATHY decide marcharse y LAURA la invita a su casa, donde le revela que no mató a nadie, sino que fue RAY el asesino. El detective MORRISON comunica a ABBY que es sospechosa del asesinato de ABBY y la interroga sobre WOLFBRIDGE. BEN está vivo, pero herido de gravedad y delira, mientras lo cuidan las monjas de una misión. En el funeral, ABBY le dice a VAL que es ella la viuda, no VAL. LAURA, por su parte, le confía que GARY sólo se casó con ABBY para que ella pudiera seguir con su vida, es decir, por amor a VAL, no a ABBY. Cuando el funeral da comienzo, MORRISON le pide a CATHY que se someta a un interrogatorio. En la comisaría, CATHY se encuentra con GARY, que está vivo, y ambos se besan. 

Gary is murdered, and Val flips out. Abby is in shock. Cathy decides to leave the ranch and Laura invites her to stay with her. Cathy tells Laura she never murdered anyone and took the blame for Ray. Detective Morrison tells Abby that she is a suspect in Gary's murder, and he wants to know about Wolfbridge. Ben is alive, but badly injured and delirious, and is being taken care of by nuns in a mission. At Gary's funeral, Abby tells Val that she is Gary's widow, not Val. Laura tells Val that when she and Gary were seeing each other, Gary only married Abby so that Val would go on with her life. So he married Abby because he loved Val, not Abby. As the funeral begins, Morrison asks Cathy to come downtown for questioning. At the police station, Cathy goes into a room and Gary's there - ALIVE - and they start to kiss.

24/99: "YESTERDAY, IT RAINED" ("AYER, LLOVIÓ")

BEN regresa a casa para alegría de VAL. El asesino a sueldo disparó en realidad contra RAY. CATHY llama a la madre de este para comunicárselo, y LAURA oye su conversación. Luego esta informa a GREG, que pregunta a KAREN por qué los EWING no asistieron al funeral de GARY, y le dice a ST. CLAIRE que cree que GARY no ha muerto. Más tarde ordena a ABBY que venda LOTUS POINT a WOLFBRIDGE, pero ella se niega, y le revela que GARY está vivo. BEN adivina lo que MACK está haciendo y se enfurece porque VAL podría haber perdido a los niños, y acaba dándole un puñetazo. ABBY acude a casa de los MACKENZIE y les informa de que GARY está vivo y de que MACK le ha utilizado para llegar a WOLFBRIDGE. KAREN se siente traicionada y se enfrenta a MACK, preocupada por el dolor que ha causado, y le devuelve su anillo de boda: todo ha terminado entre ellos.

Ben comes home and Val cries with joy. The hitman actually shot Ray, not Gary. Cathy calls Ray's mom to tell her, and Laura overhears. Laura tells Greg, who asks Karen why none of the Ewings came to Gary's funeral, and tells St. Claire that he thinks Gary is still alive. Abby mourns for Gary. Greg tells Abby to sell Lotus Point to Wolfbridge, but she won't. Greg and calls Abby to tell her Gary's alive. Ben figures out what Mac is doing, and is furious with him because Val could have lost her babies. Ben punches Mac. Abby goes to the MacKenzies and tells Karen that Gary's alive and Mac is using him to get to Wolfbridge. Karen feels very betrayed and confronts Mac. She's upset at all the pain he has caused and tells him their marriage is over and gives him her wedding ring back.

25/100: "NEGOTIATIONS" ("NEGOCIACIONES")

VAL se entera de que GARY está vivo y recibirá una llamada de MARK ST. CLAIRE, pero la amenazan con matarlo si se lo dice a alguien. BEN niega que GARY esté vivo. KAREN se lo confirma, afirmando que ha sido secuestrado. Cuando BEN confiesa haberse alegrado de su muerte, porque estaba harto de que no superase su relación con él, VAL rompe su relación con BEN. MACK mantiene oculto a GARY en el motel Bel Mar, y lleva a ABBY hasta allí. GARY está furioso con ella y no le gusta que el plan de MACK dependa de ABBY, pero él le asegura que no tiene elección.

GREG convoca una rueda de prensa para revelar que WOLFBRIDGE es una organización criminal y le da el mérito de su investigación a MACK, al tiempo que asegura a este que romperá todo lazo con ellos. MACK le dice a ABBY que le pondrá un micrófono oculto, y llevará a GARY al vestíbulo a las 3 y media, para que ST. CLAIRE pueda volver a atentar contra su vida. ABBY deberá conseguir que diga algo que lo vincule con el intento de asesinato y luego librarse de él lo antes posible. ABBY acude a ver a ST. CLAIRE, y le dice que GARY se hospeda en el Bel Mar. Él le quita el micrófono y le informa que ella irá con él al hotel. Luego llama a VAL y le dice que también acuda, y que suba al "jeep" de MACK que estará aparcado en la entrada. GARY saldrá entonces y ella deberá alejarlo de allí. Entonces, ST. CLAIRE telefonea a KAREN para decirle que ha colocado una bomba en el "jeep" de MACK.

ABBY supone que KAREN impedirá que MACK se suba al coche a causa de la bomba. GARY verá a VAL en su interior y correrá para salvarla, y así los secuaces de ST. CLAIRE podrán dispararle con facilidad. Una de las empleadas del hotel trabaja en realidad para ST. CLAIRE, y tras esconde un arma en su carro, se dirige al vestíbulo. MACK y GARY entran en él, KAREN se acerca a ellos corriendo y le dice a MACK que han colocado una bomba en su coche. GARY repara en VAL, y corre hacia ella. La mujer de la limpieza saca el arma y está a punto de disparar contra GARY, pero MACK la coge del brazo y, accidentalmente, dispara contra KAREN por error. ABBY ve salir a GARY del hotel e intenta salir de la limusina de ST. CLAIRE, al tiempo que grita pidiendo ayuda. Él la vuelve a meter dentro y el coche arranca a too gas. GARY corre tras la limusina. Mientras, la empleada es detenida y MACK sostiene a KAREN hasta que llega la ambulancia.

A man tells Val that Gary is alive and that she will be receiving a call from Mark St. Claire, but if she mentions the conversation, Gary will be killed. Ben tells Val that Gary is dead. Karen tells Val that Gary is alive, but kidnapped. Val confronts Ben, who says he was happy when he thought Gary was dead, because he's tired of her being in love with him. Val breaks up with him. Mac has Gary stashed away at the Bel Mar motel and brings Abby to see Gary. Gary's mad at her and doesn't like Mac's plan as it depends on Abby. Mac says he has no choice.

Greg calls a press conference and says that he found out Wolfbridge is a criminal organization and gives credit to Mac. Greg says he will sever all ties with them. Mac tells Abby he is going to wire her, and will bring Gary out to the lobby at 3:30 so that St. Claire will have a chance to shoot Gary again. Abby needs to get him to say something that will link him to the assassination attempt and then get away from him as fast as she can. Abby goes to see St. Claire and tells him that Gary's at the Bel Mar. He then pulls the wire off of her and says she is going with him to the hotel. St. Claire calls Val and tells her to go to the hotel, and to get into Mac's jeep which will be out front. He tells her that Gary will come out, and she needs to drive him away. St. Claire then calls Karen and tells her that he has planted a bomb in Mac's jeep.

Abby figures out that Karen will tell Mac not to get in the jeep because of the bomb. Then Gary will see Val in the truck, and run out to save her so St. Claire's men will be able to have a clear shot at him. The hotel maid, who works for St. Claire, hides a gun in her cart, and goes to the lobby. Mac and Gary walk into the lobby. Karen runs in and tells Mac that there is a bomb in his car. Gary sees Val and runs to her. The cleaning woman pulls out a gun and is about to shoot Gary, but Mac grabs her arm and she accidentally shoots Karen instead. Abby sees Gary run out of the hotel. She tries to get out of St. Claire's limo and yells at him to help her. St. Claire pulls her back in and they speed off. Gary runs after the limo. Back inside, the maid is arrested and Mac holds Karen as they wait for an ambulance.
