Progresivamente, renovó la relación que tenía con LUCY mediante cartas y, cuando se instaló en DALLAS, volvieron a verse con frecuencia. Pero J.R. volvió a intervenir cuando parecieron reconciliarse y mintió sobre VAL, provocando además la nueva huida de GARY. VAL siguió cerca de LUCY, hasta que se trasladó con GARY a KNOTS LANDING, después de casarse por segunda vez. Aficionada a escribir y cocinar, VAL llegó a publicar varios libros inspirados en experiencias personales. Cuando descubrió la aventura de GARY con su vecina ABBY, le abandonó y comenzó una nueva vida. Después de un desengaño tras otro, y de casarse con otros dos hombres, BEN y DANNY, GARY y VAL se convirtieron en una familia de nuevo al casarse por tercera vez, padres ya de dos gemelos, concebidos fuera del matrimonio. VAL fue interpretada en una escena de juventud por la actriz AMY STOCK. VALENE EWING apareció en un episodio de la 2ª temporada de la nueva DALLAS.

Wife of GARY, whom he married three times, and mother of his children. Only legitimate daughter of LILIMAE and JEREMIAH, she used to neglect her, determined to become a famous folk & country singer. Val was born in the town of Husky Corners, Tennessee. When her father died, she went to live with her old grandmother and then with her aunts. As a teenager, she met GARY as she was working in a cafe. Not long after they got married and had their first child LUCY, but J.R. EWING interfered and broke the couple apart. He scared VAL away from the ranch and took her daughter with him, partly because of LILIMAE, who did not welcome her in her home. J.R.´s threats became a reality and LUCY was raised at SOUTHORK.

Progressively, she renewed her relationship with LUCY via letters and, when she moved back to DALLAS, they began to see each other often. But J.R. got in the middle again when they seemed to reconcile and lied about VAL, pulling GARY to run away. VAL stayed close to LUCY, until she travelled along with GARY to KNOTS LANDING, after their second wedding. Her hobbies being writing and cooking, VAL even published several books inspired by personal experiences. When she found out about GARY and neighbor sleeping together, she walked out on him and started a new life. After a number of heartbreaks, and new marriages to two other men, BEN and DANNY, GARY and VAL became a family again when they married by third time, already parents to the twins, conceived out of wedlock. VAL was played in one scene as a teenager by actress AMY STOCK.

ABBY CUNNINGHAM

ABIGAIL FAIRGATE CUNNINGHAM EWING SCOTT SUMNER

Huérfana desde los dos años y hermana menor de SID, ambos procedían de una familia humilde. A lo largo de la serie, contrajo matrimonio con otros hombres, entre ellos GARY EWING. Sin embargo, sus únicos hijos, OLIVIA y BRIAN, los tuvo con su primer marido, JEFF CUNNINGHAM, de quien acababa de divorciarse cuando apareció en la serie. Se instaló en una de las casas contiguas a la de su hermano, y empezó a trabajar como contable en la KL MOTORS.

Poco después, se independizó e inició una fructífera carrera como despiadada mujer de negocios, usando a todo el mundo para salirse con la suya. Mientras tanto, su hija se volvió adicta a las drogas y GARY estuvo a punto de sucumbir a su alcoholismo de nuevo, al tiempo que VAL intentaba adaptarse a una vida sin GARY. Pero ABBY aprendió con el tiempo que "la primera señora EWING nunca desaparece".

La mayoría de relaciones de ABBY llevaban implícita una parte comercial, especialmente sus matrimonios con GARY, GREG SUMNER y CHARLES SCOTT III, su primer amor, del que se vengó a conciencia años más tarde. El personaje de ABBY acabó marchándose al JAPÓN con su hijo BRIAN, aunque volvería tanto para el último episodio doble como para la miniserie. ABBY fue interpretada en varias escenas de juventud por la actriz CYNTHIA BAIN.

Orphan since two years old and younger sister of SID, both of them came from a humble family. All through the show, she married other men, including GARY EWING. However, her only children OLIVIA and BRIAN, were hers and her first husband JEFF CUNNINGHAM´s offspring, she had just divorced him when landed into the show. She moved in to one of the next door houses and began to work with her brother as an accountant at KL MOTORS.

Right after that, she became independent and started a successful career as a ruthless business woman, using everybody in order to get away with hers. Meanwhile, her teenage daughter got addicted to drugs and GARY almost succumbed to his alcoholism again, while VAL was trying to fit in a GARY-less life. But time taught ABBY that "the first Mrs. EWING never goes away".

Most of her affairs implied a business side, especially her marriages to GARY, GREG SUMNER and CHARLES SCOTT III, her child love, on whom she got revenge deeply years later. The character of ABBY ended up flying to JAPAN with son BRIAN, though she would come back in the last two-parter and the mini-series, as well. ABBY was portrayed in several scenes as a young woman by actress CYNTHIA BAIN.

KAREN COOPER FAIRGATE MACKENZIE

Esposa de SID y, tras enviudar, de MACK MACKENZIE. Nacida en NUEVA YORK, estudió en PHILADELPHIA, donde conocería a su futuro marido SID, entonces casado con SUSAN. Después de divorciarse él, la pareja se casó y se trasladó a KNOTS LANDING. Madre de DIANA, ERIC y MICHAEL, luego adoptó a MEG, la hija de su amiga y vecina LAURA.

Su matrimonio con MACK supuso un nuevo comienzo, aunque su hija DIANA tardó en aceptar al 2º marido de su madre. KAREN siempre mantuvo una encarnizada y, al principio, disimulada enemistad con su cuñada ABBY, cuyos principios estaban enfrentados con los suyos. La filosofía de KAREN estaba basada en una preocupación constante por mejorar las condiciones de vida de su familia y de sus vecinos, que la apodaron "Pollyanna".

Amiga íntima de VAL, a quien transmitió sus inquietudes por el medio ambiente, pasó a dirigir la KNOTS LANDING MOTORS cuando murió su marido. Más adelante, trabajó en el centro de recreo de LOTUS POINT, del que era socia junto con GARY, ABBY y LAURA, y en un programa televisivo de entrevistas llamado MICRÓFONO ABIERTO. MICHELE LEE también apareció en la miniserie de REUNIÓN rodada en 1998. Por otro lado, KAREN fue interpretada en varios "flashbacks" por la actriz LIANE CURTIS.

Wife of SID and, after his death, also of MACK MACKENZIE. Born in N.Y.C., she went to college in PHILADELPHIA, where she met her future husband SID, then married to SUSAN. After his divorce, the couple married and moved in to KNOTS LANDING. Mother of DIANA, ERIC and MICHAEL, she then adopted MEG, daughter of her best friend and neighbor LAURA.

Her marriage to MACK meant a new beginning, although her daughter DIANA hesitated to accept her mother´s second husband. KAREN always held a strong and, in the beginning, hidden rivarly with her sister-in-law ABBY, whose principles were opposite hers. KAREN´s philisophy was based on a constant worry for the improvement of her family and her neighbors´ life, who nicknamed her "Pollyanna".

Closest friend with VAL, to whom she transmitted her concerns about environment, she became the director of KNOTS LANDING MOTORS when her husband died. Later on, she worked at the LOTUS POINT resort, which she co-owned with GARY, ABBY and LAURA, and hosting a TV talk show called OPEN MIKE. MICHELE LEE co-starred in the REUNION mini-series shot in 1998. Also, KAREN was played in several flashbacks by actress LIANE CURTIS.
