190 - cement the relationship

May 14, 1987: Abby Ewing (who had just divorced Gary) found her daughter Olivia (Tonya Crowe) with her own lover, Senator Peter Hollister, dead!!! But maybe Olivia was also thinking that Abby (who was cleaning her hands) was the real culprit. Peter had been playing on "Knots Landing" a three-sided game with Abby, her delusional, cocaine-addict daughter Olivia, and Mack's daughter Paige (Nicollette Sheridan). There could be at least three suspects in this case, and the "Knots Landing" women always took care of everything, especially the storylines!! Abby, always with her big hair and heavy make-up, was well-known for handling problems on her own, and so she did: first she hid the bloody, still warm corpse in a storeroom and then she put it in her car and buried him under a playground in works, assuming the cement would welcome her ex-lover´s body! This is what the title was referring to: "Cement the Relationship"! This cliffhanger put an end to the eight season of the show and the episode earned composer Joel Rosenbaum a well-deserved Emmy for his very hitchockian score. The plot, of course, was inspired by Hitch´s movie "The Trouble with Harry". In the video you can watch the last minutes of this episode.

Este episodio sólo fue emitido en Cataluña. Abby Ewing (recién divorciada de Gary) encontraba a su hija Olivia (Tonya Crowe) con su propio amante, el Senador Peter Hollister, ¡muerto! Pero quizá Olivia pensaba que la verdadera culpable era Abby (que se acababa de lavar las manos...). Peter había estado jugando a tres bandas en "California" con Abby, su romántica hija adicta a la cocaína, Olivia, y con la hija de Mack, Paige (Nicollette Sheridan). En este caso podía haber como mínimo tres sospechosos y, en "California", las mujeres siempre se ocupaban de todo, en especial de las tramas. Abby, que siempre iba repeinada y supermaquillada, era conocida por resolver los problemas ella sola, y eso hizo: primero, escondió el cadáver aún caliente y empapado en sangre en un almacén, luego lo llevó hasta su coche y lo escondió en un parque infantil en construcción, segura de que el cemento acogería el cuerpo de su ex amante. A eso se refería el título del episodio...Este cliffhanger puso punto y final a la 8ª temporada de la serie y proporcionó al compositor Joel Rosenbaum un muy merecido Emmy por su banda sonora propia de un film de Hitchcock. La trama, por supuesto, se había inspirado en la peli de éste, "Pero, ¿quién mató a Harry?".
