Real-time crossovers with "Dallas" ended when Bobby´death was considered a dream, at the beginning of its ninth Season. One of Val´s twins had been named Bobby after him and Gary went through a hard time recovering from the depression caused by his younger brother´s killing. In a 2002 interview for Ultimate Dallas, David Jacobs explained:

"Once (Bobby) came back we never mentioned (his death) again. I thought that was a terrible decision, I always hated it. I always thought that was unfortunate, I have killed off characters before and brought them back, (...) but I didn't like how it was done on Dallas because people were very emotional when Bobby died and in a way when you say 'never mind it was all a dream' you are playing with their emotions in a negative way, I think they get angry."

Los crossovers en tiempo real con "Dallas" acabaron cuando la muerte de Bobby se consideró un sueño, al principio de su 9ª temporada. Uno de los gemelos de Val había sido bautizado con su nombre y Gary había sufrido mucho intentando recuperarse de la depresión provocado por el asesinato de su hermano menor. En una entrevista concedida en 2002 a Ultimate Dallas, David Jacobs explicó:

"Una vez (Bobby) hubo regresado, nunca volvimos a mencionar (su muerte). Me pareció una decisión horrible y siempre la he detestado. Creo que fue muy desafortunada, yo mismo he eliminado a personajes antes y los he recuperado tras su muerte, (...) pero no me gustó cómo lo hicieron en "Dallas" porque el público reaccionó de forma muy emotiva cuando Bobby murió y creo que, si se le dice, "no importa, no fue más que un sueño", estás jugando con sus emociones negativamente y eso les enfurece."
