KAREN descubre que el caso contra FRANK y ROY ha sido desestimado debido a un tecnicismo y, furiosa, irrumpe en el despacho del fiscal federal, MACK MACKENZIE. KAREN despide a GARY y contrata a WAYNE, sin saber que él ha reunido información sobre la muerte de SID. Instalada en un motel, VAL hace una visita a RUSTY y CRICKET en su rancho. GARY va hasta allí para intentar que VAL regrese pero RUSTY le da una paliza. ABBY, furiosa de que GARY haya ido en busca de VAL, envía a J.R. parte del libro de VAL. Esta vuelve a su casa de KNOTS LANDING pero impide a GARY que siga viviendo allí.

KAREN hears that the case against Frank and Roy has been dropped due to a technicality and, furious, barges into the Federal Prosecutor's office, MACK MACKENZIE. Karen fires Gary, and hires Wayne, unaware that he has a scrapbook about Sid's death. Val has been living at a motel, but decides to stay with Rusty and Cricket on their ranch. Gary, now living with Abby, goes there to try to win Val back. Rusty beats him up. Abby's furious that Gary went to see Val. Val returns home and kicks Gary out. Gary goes back to Abby, who has been sending JR every other chapter of Val's book.

LAURA da a luz camino del hospital, asistida por RICHARD en el interior de su coche, tras sufrir un pequeño accidente. El niño salva la vida gracias a su padre, que le hace el boca a boca. Bautizan a su hijo con el nombre de Daniel. JOE advierte a MACK que KAREN está usando las transcripciones del juicio para ir tras FRANK y ROY ella misma. Al mismo tiempo, le pide a WAYNE que negocie un negocio de partes usadas y él acude a FRANK y ROY, que le engañan empleando a dos hombres llamados MARSHALL y ANGELO como tapadera. J.R. consigue comprar la editorial de VAL y ABBY le exige que le informe sobre el testamento de JOCK: J.R. le asegura que GARY heredará millones independientemente de que siga casado con VAL.

Laura's water breaks. Richard rushes her to the hospital, but the car goes off the road and Laura gives birth in the car. The baby isn't breathing, but Richard saves him by giving him mouth-to-mouth. They name their new son Daniel. Joe warns Mac that Karen is using the court transcripts to try and go after Frank and Roy herself. Karen asks Wayne to negotiate a parts deal, and he goes to Frank and Roy, who set him up with their front men Marshall and Angelo. J.R. has one of his companies buy Val's publishing company. J.R. also meets with Abby, who will only give him the rest of the book if he'll tell her about Jock's will. J.R. tells her that Gary's coming into millions, and it isn't dependent on Val.

GARY desea reconciliarse con VAL, e incluso LILIMAE intriga para que se vean para hablar, pero ella se niega. KAREN le dice a MACK que sospecha que WAYNE provocó la muerte de SID y quiere atraparlo. WAYNE y MARSHALL excluyen a ANGELO de su parte del negocio. RICHARD decide abrir un restaurante con el apoyo de LAURA. GARY asiste entusiasmado al ensayo de una cantante llamada CIJI DUNNE y lleva a los WARD a verla. KENNY se queda impresionado y quiere grabar una demo con ella, lo cual despierta los celos de GINGER.

Gary really wants to get Val back, and even Lilimae tries to get them back together, but Val refuses to speak to him. Karen tells Mac that she suspects Wayne caused Sid's death and she wants to trap him. Wayne and Marshall exclude Angelo from their parts of the deal. Richard decides to open a restaurant, and Laura is supportive. Gary sees Ciji Dunne, a singer, rehearsing and is entranced. He takes the Wards to see her and Kenny is really impressed and wants to do a demo with her. Ginger is jealous.

La publicista de VAL envía a CHIP ROBERTS para entregarle unas fotos y el mensajero acaba convirtiéndose en su publicista real. KENNY y GARY deciden unirse para grabar la maqueta de CIJI. KAREN invierte en Daniel´s mientras alguien la vigila...

Val's publicist sends a messenger, Chip Roberts to drop off photos at Val's. Kenny and Gary decide to make a demo with her on their own. Karen invests money in Richard's restaurant, while somebody is following her. Val appears on The Mike Douglas Show.

It's opening night at Richard's restaurant "Daniel". Gary asks Val to go to Dallas with him for the reading of Jock's will. She says no. Karen tells Mac of her plan to catch Wayne and Marshall, and they finally agree to sign confessions about killing Sid.

GARY acude a Dallas y ABBY vuela hasta allí para sorprenderle. VAL se halla en el mismo hotel firmando ejemplares de su libro, ignorando que J.R. ha comprado la editorial. La herencia de GARY es puesta en fideicomiso y este se siente decepcionado y triste...

Gary goes to Dallas for the reading of Jock's will, and Abby flies in to surprise him. Val is at the same hotel on her book signing tour, ignoring that J.R. owns the publishing company and will profit from it. Gary's money is left to him in trust, and he's very angry that even in death Jock doesn't trust him.

ABBY comunica a GARY que, si no inician un negocio en común, le abandonará. VAL se incomoda cuando LILIMAE invita a CHIP a vivir con ellas. El joven se muestra interesado en DIANA. Después de un fin de semana juntos, KAREN y MACK intiman por fin...

Abby tells Gary if they don't have a partnership she will leave him. Val is upset that Lilimae invited Chip to live with them. Lilimae introduces Chip to Ciji, and they're attracted to one another. After a camping weekend, Karen and Mac make love at last.

8/61: "MAN IN THE MIDDLE" ("EL INTERMEDIARIO")

ABBY y GARY se trasladan a una casa en la playa. CHIP confiesa a CIJI que sale con DIANA para ayudarla a ella en su carrera, y dan comienzo a una relación. JOE vuelve a N.Y. y DIANA se lleva muy mal con MACK. Finalmente, CIJI obtiene un gran éxito en Daniel´s...

Abby and Gary move into a beach house. Chip tells Ciji that he's dating Diana as a way to make contacts and help Ciji's career. Joe returns to N.Y.C. and Diana takes her anger out on Mack. Chip and Ciji begin an affair and Ciji is a big hit at her opening at Daniel.

ABBY invita al productor JEFF MUNSON a una actuación de CIJI, ante el recelo de KENNY. Pero JEFF conoce a VAL y le pide una cita. LAURA sospecha que RICHARD le miente de nuevo y MACK confiesa a KAREN que la quiere, aunque ella no le corresponde...

Abby invites a famous record producer, Jeff Munson, to hear Ciji sing, which worries Kenny. But Jeff knows Val and asks her out. Laura's upset that Richard took money from Abby and is lying to her again. Mac tells Karen that he loves her, but Karen says she doesn't love him.

DIANA sufre un desmayo y se hace necesario un trasplante de riñón. Su familia próxima no tiene un tipo de sangre compatible y KAREN ruega a ABBY que se someta a las pruebas. JEFF obliga a ABBY a prescindir de KENNY, si quiere que produzca el disco de CIJI...

Diana collapses and needs a kidney transplant. Jeff Munson tells Abby he'd only work with Ciji if he produces her. Karen and the boys don't match Diana's blood type, and therefore can't donate their kidneys. Karen asks Abby to be tested.

LAURA y CIJI se hacen amigas y pasan mucho tiempo juntas. En contra de su reacción inicial, ABBY accede a donarle su riñón a DIANA pero por SID, no por KAREN:

"No quiero que vengas ni que seamos civilizadas una con otra. Ni que de repente finjas que te caigo bien. Si quieres mostrarme agradecimiento, salva una ballena en mi nombre". CHIP regala a DIANA el collar que compró a CIJI para su cumpleaños, y le dice que la quiere...

Abby refuses to donate her kidney at first but then decides to after talking to Diana. Karen thanks her but Abby says she's doing it for Sid and Diana, NOT for her:

"I don't want you here. I don't want us to be civil to each other and I don't want you to pretend that you like me all of a sudden. If you want to show your gratitude, save a whale in my name.” Chip gives Diana the necklace he bought for Ciji's birthday and tells her he loves her...

MACK recibe la visita de su padre, que se está muriendo y quiere que le dejen morir si su estado empeora. MACK revela a KAREN que PETE engañaba a su madre y les maltrataba. Durante la fiesta de KAREN, DIANA descubre a CIJI y CHIP besándose...

Karen throws a benefit party in the cul-de-sac. Mack's father Pete comes to visit him and tells him he's dying, so he wants Mac to promise to pull the plug. Mac tells Karen that Pete cheated on his mother and was physically abusive to him and his sister Megan. Diana, recuperating, watches the party out of her window, and sees Chip and Ciji kissing.

ABBY vende su contrato con CIJI a JEFF y deja fuera a KENNY, que se enzarza en una pelea con GARY. ABBY acude al abogado de GARY, JAMES WESTMONT, para que proteja sus intereses en caso de que no se case con ella. CHIP roba a VAL dos capítulos de su nuevo libro y luego golpea a CIJI al saber que está embarazada, después de decirle que lo arruinará todo. VAL firma por fin los papeles del divorcio, tras ir a N.Y. con JEFF...

Abby sells Ciji's contract to Jeff and tells Kenny he's out, and Kenny and Gary get into a fight. Abby goes to Gary's lawyer, James Westmont, and wants him to protect her interests in case Gary doesn't marry her. Chip steals 2 chapters of her current manuscript and gives it to them. Ciji tells him that she's pregnant, and Chip yells that this will ruin everything and manhandles her. Jeff takes Val to New York for the weekend, and finally signs the papers.

TEDDY BECKER, el antiguo novio de KAREN, ha vuelto a la ciudad e intenta reanudar su relación con ella. Pero al final KAREN reconoce que quiere a MACK y accede a casarse con él. GARY descubre que ABBY excluyó a KENNY, y CHIP ya no quiere que CIJI aborte...

Karen's old boyfriend Teddy Becker is back in town. Ginger tells Gary that it was Abby who cut Kenny out. Chip convinces Ciji to get an abortion, but after spending time with Laura's kids, she changes her mind. Mac proposes again, and this time Karen says yes.

15/68: "TO HAVE AND TO HOLD" ("TENER Y MANTENER")

Un periódico publica 2 capítulos del libro de VAL, un diario sobre su ruptura con GARY. Ambos se enfurecen por ello y GARY habla con ABBY sobre la forma en que sus actos afectan a los demás. KAREN y MACK acaban casándose en una capilla de Las Vegas...

A tabloid prints the 2 chapters of Val's book. She's very upset because it was a diary of her breakup with Gary. Gary is furious over the tabloid and barges into Val's. Then he tells Abby they need to talk because they're hurting too many people. Mac and Karen go to Las Vegas. They get married at a place is so tacky that Karen giggles throughout the whole ceremony.

16/69: "A NEW FAMILY" ("UNA NUEVA FAMILIA")

MACK se instala en casa de KAREN y a ERIC le cuesta adaptarse a la situación. GARY vuelve a beber cuando se entera del acuerdo de RICHARD y ABBY, y le dice a su mujer:

"¿Por qué estás haciendo esto? ¿Hay alguien a quien no quieras destruir? Tenemos que acabar con esto. Estamos haciendo daño a la gente, les arruinamos la vida..." ABBY ordena a CIJI que se mantenga alejada de GARY, y RICHARD siente celos de la amistad de CIJI y LAURA...

Mac moves into Karen's, and Eric has a hard time dealing with it. Gary finds out about Abby's contract with Richard and yells at Abby:

"Why are you doing this? Is there anybody you wouldn't destroy? We have got to stop this, we´re hurting people, we're ruining lives!" Abby yells at Ciji that she knows about the affair and to stay away from Gary. Richard is mad about how much time Laura spends with Ciji...

17/70: "THE MORNING AFTER" ("A LA MAÑANA SIGUIENTE")

GARY despierta en casa de CIJI, que ha descubierto el turbio pasado de CHIP, que se llama realmente TONY FENICE. ABBY y VAL se enfrentan a causa del arresto de GARY. CIJI rompe con CHIP diciéndole:

"Alguien debería hablar con todos sobre ti: yo. Debería contarle a DIANA y a los demás que les has engañado..." A lo que responde CHIP: "Cállate. Contarle eso a alguien sería una estupidez". ABBY conspira para controlar la fortuna de GARY. RICHARD acusa a LAURA de tener una aventura con CIJI:

"¿Cuál de las dos hace el papel de hombre?" - pregunta un alterado RICHARD. "Para él, si dos mujeres mantienen una relación, una de las dos tendría que fingir ser el hombre..." - le dice luego LAURA a CIJI.

Gary wakes up at Ciji's and they talk. Ciji finds Chip has article that says he is wanted in connection with a beating, and his name is Tony Fenice. Ciji breaks up with Chip and fires him:

"Someone should tell everybody about you. I should be the one. I should tell Diana Fairgate and everybody else you've conned." To which CHIP answers: "Shut-up! Telling anybody anything would be VERY stupid." Richard accuses Laura of having an affair with Ciji:

"Which one gets to be the man?" - asks a nasty RICHARD. "Leave it to RICHARD to think that if two women were having a relationship one of course would have to pretend to be the man..." - LAURA says later to CIJI.

18/71: "CELEBRATION" ("CELEBRACIÓN")

LAURA comunica a RICHARD que debe marcharse. CHIP planea marcharse a N.Y., y DIANA quiere acompañarle, pero KAREN le asegura que hará lo que sea para impedirlo. ABBY se presenta en casa de CIJI en busca de GARY, y la amenaza. Luego CHIP le lleva flores y ella le dice que, si no se mantiene lejos de ella, le contará a todos que es TONY FENICE. Luego llega VAL y CIJI le echa la culpa de que GARY vuelva a beber a causa del libro. Se enzarzan en una pelea, VAL empuja a CIJI, y esta cae y se golpea la cabeza contra el suelo, y, más tarde, su cadáver aparece flotando en la playa...

Laura tells Richard that she wants him to move out. Chip is packing and tells Diana he's moving to New York. Diana wants to go with him, but Karen says she will do anything in her power to stop her. Abby shows up at Ciji's looking for Gary and threatens her. Then Chip comes by with flowers, and Ciji tells him if she doesn't stay out of her life, she'll tell everyone he is Tony Fenice. Next Val goes to Ciji's, looking for Gary. Ciji says it's Val's fault that Gary's drinking, because of the tabloid. They fight, Val pushes Ciji, and Ciji falls and hits her head on a table. Ciji's dead body washes ashore.

19/72: "LOSS OF INNOCENCE" ("LA PÉRDIDA DE LA INOCENCIA")

CIJI ha sido encontrada muerta cerca de un inconsciente GARY, que no recuerda lo ocurrido. MACK solicita una autopsia del cadáver y se concluye que fue asesinada. Cuando confiesa a la policía que mintió sobre su coartada, GARY es acusado de asesinato...

Ciji's body is found, and Gary is passed out on the beach about 200 feet away. Mac requests an autopsy, and they think Ciji was murdered. Gary tells the police he initially lied to them, and that he woke up on the beach near Ciji. Gary and is charged with Ciji's murder.
