Prayer: Its Parts, Effects, and Participants
Lecture based Questions:
1. Draw or describe a reminder or symbol of one of your helpers.
You know what to do!
2. What sorts of things should we pray for?
Prayer should be used for the blessing of anyone or anything who is not resistant to the idea of help. If someone has made it clear that they do not want your smarmy, self-righteous, religious impingement on his lives, you can still pray for happiness or for enlightenment without suffering for them, because those things are included in the universal Astral Contract of all life.
If someone requests your prayers, and the more detailed your prayer work is, the more effective and fast acting it will be. For instance, if Jane asks for prayers for her Hepatitis B, you can pray for the virus to be vanquished in her body, for the bacteria to be blessed and returned to life in a more constructive form, for Jane’s liver to be fortified, completely healed, and enlivened, and for her immune system to be bullet proof and invincible. These specific requests make the thought form of your prayer intricate and well ordered. If the thoughts are vague and careless, then so go the results.
3. How many times should we pray for something?
One time should be sufficient. Thereafter, whenever the subject crosses your mind, say an affirmation to supplement the prayer.
4. Is it okay to pray for myself?
It is good to pray for any reason. If you have a need that requires more oomph than your meditations and affirmations, and if other people are involved in your situation, then there is no question that you should pray with fervor and enthusiasm for yourself and your predicament. If you have some question in your mind about the legitimacy of your prayer because it involves personal gain and material wealth, then you may word your prayer something like this:
“Dear God, I know you gave me this idea for a good reason, and the desire to follow it is strong and propelling. If it is Divine Will that I should have these good things in my life, then I know that You are providing them for me and I thank You very much for Your bounty. However, if this is a mere illusion or stepping stone to something more suitable, then I know that You are bringing me something even better in my life and I gladly open myself to Your wonderful gifts.
The key to correct prayer is correct motivation. Will force must not be involved, and neither should the agenda that you might gain influence from the work. A simple heart and simple faith have gigantic power. A polluted motive will get things done, but with results of mixed karma. Garbage in, garbage out, as the computer industry says.
5. What is a prayer exactly?
A prayer is a potent thought form of blessing. The petitioner forms the archetype, which then rises in vibration to the Garden of Prayer in the higher Mental Realm. If a prayer is tangled up in messy emotions, the angels will assist by breaking it free from the feelings that drag it down. Following are the steps to effective prayer.
1) Silence. Still the chatter of your mind and your inner critic. If only for a moment, create a space within your thoughts that allows Divine Intervention to enter. No emotional fireworks, please.
2) Invocation. Say the names of deity that are most comfortable for you. Simply uttering them invites them into your life and consciousness.
3) Petition. This is where you state the situation and ask for the solution or blessing.
4) Gratitude. To be most effective, we give thanks here for the blessings that are to come. This creates a hole in the fabric of your life and in the lives of your loved ones to be filled with Divine Intervention. You can say “Thank You, God for this miracle!”
5) Release. This is where some people say Amen, or Under Grace in Perfect Ways, Thy Will Be Done, or Selah, or other statements of closure. Emotionally, we express our faith in the Divine Plan, and surrender our emotional commitment to the outcome of our petition. Another nice thing to say would be “Only God can do it perfectly, and so God does it perfectly.”
After a while in the Garden of Prayer, the archetype gathers enough substance around it to get the job done. It sinks back down into the lower Mental Realm where it disperses energy that creates changes first in the Astral World and then in the Physical World.
6. What does a prayer look like to a clairvoyant?
When a person is praying, the aura lights up like a bonfire. It is quite a light show of rainbow colors, pretty shapes, and powerful energies. Often nature spirits will congregate to enjoy the sight. When a whole room of people is praying as a group, the effect is amplified exponentially.
The prayer thought forms usually resemble flowers of various shapes and sizes. I have seen a room full of salad bowl-sized purple poppies floating upward from a ministers conference. These were all professional pray-ers of high character!
7. Exercise: Give Peace a Chance
Using the steps in number 5, let us express prayer for peace that incorporates the universal Astral Contract for comfort, prosperity, and happiness. Following is an example of what you could say during your petition.
“Dear God, I believe in a world where everyone enjoys a good life full of blessings. Everyone has plenty of beautiful things to eat and drink. Everyone has good health care. Everyone has a safe, comfortable, lovely home. Everyone has clothes to wear that are comfortable, clean, and attractive. Everyone has plenty of money to get everything that they need and like, and all those supplies are readily available all the time. Everyone has good friends to trust and to support each other. Everyone has a wise government that encourages, protects, and helps them. Everyone has a place to sleep in that is soft, warm, cozy, clean, comfortable, and safe. Everyone has a good education. Everyone appreciates these good things and works to maintain them and share them. This is the idea that you have sent to me, and I believe with all my heart that this miracle can be a reality in our world. Thank you for your Grace and guidance. I am now and always shall be your servant in Light.”
