The Laws of Light Service:
The Dynamics and Parameters of Interaction
Lecture based Questions:
1. Do bloodlines and sexual relations interfere with helping someone?
Bloodlines actually give us license to help each other—we can affirm and pray for the members of our karmic circle as though we were affirming ad praying for ourselves. Your karmic circle is your small group of people with whom you interact frequently. Some of them are blood relatives and some of them are non-family but who feel very close to you.
However, there is a frequent challenge connected to our loved ones. Our feelings of closeness can create projections—we tend to (erroneously) assume that our own ideas and desires are the same as our family and friends. Also, intense emotions create Astral static that interferes clear reading of one another.
Also, you cannot help someone and have sex with them at the same time. Sex is a category of relationship unto itself. If you are having sex (caresses and/or intercourse) with someone, the dynamics are dramatically different from any other type of relationship. Power roles and the manipulation of the other partner are bound to occur at subconscious levels. These create karmic bonds and violate boundaries. Sex partners are always equals at some level and therefore cannot be in a relationship of helper and beneficiary. Don’t kid yourself. If you think that you are helping someone that you are having sex with, there has been some sort of bartering already going on and the debt has been paid. Also, there is some form of unfair power play going on that cannot be a healing situation.
How are we to help those with whom we have intimate ties?
Prayer and affirmation are the only legitimate pathways that we may take for those with whom we have sex or close blood relations. This is not counting the daily favors that we exchange between members of our karmic circle. It is understood that we perform tasks and take up the slack for each other as a functioning unit. What is not going to work is taking on a role of savior or counselor. This is because the emotional dynamic is too intense and equal. This interferes with an objective and effective interchange.
Let us contemplate the value of simply being in the company of those we love rather than doing things for them. It pays honor to each other when we enjoy and support each other. Here is healing. Here is bonding. Here is getting to know each other and accepting each other. We don’t have to fix each other. In fact, this is often insulting and damaging.
2. What is the first law of Divine Service?
Never never never—act without being asked.
In other words, don’t meddle. Most of the time, people don’t want help; they simply want validation. Encouragement is a potent form of healing and help. It gives one empowerment. It adds guts to do what is needed. It gives one confidence to learn wisdom in one’s unique time and style.
3. How does the disciple prioritize service to others in association with self-care?
The first responsibility of any person is the nurturing of one’s own body. If you pay all your own bills first and save for your retirement, the surplus money that remains will be sufficient to help those in need. You must have enough faith to believe that other people are cared for with or without you. Also, your exampleship of living a well-balanced lifestyle is more valuable than you imagine.
Why do we analyze the petitioner as well as the request? We analyze the petitioner—the person asking for the favor—so that we are not robots responding to any old request like some machine would. Here is where clairvoyance is very handy. Scan the aura for hidden motives. It is very important to see whether or not the petitioner is asking out of laziness, manipulation, addiction, or falsehood. Sometimes, even if the person’s motives are not right, it might still be right for you to help in some capacity. Be aware, however, so that you are conscious of the entire situation and clear in your decision with all the facts in your possession.
Most importantly, ask your Guardian Angel what you should do. This type of checking usually doesn’t take more than a second or two. Just ask, “Is this the right thing for me to do?” She will tell you the correct answer. You can ask multiple times if you need practice in discerning whether she is answering you or whether your neurosis is running interference.
4. If someone asks you for help, and you suspect that they may be taking advantage of you, what do you do?
The good news is, this is not a big issue for you. If you know that your involvement might not really be in the petitioners’ best interest or if you don’t have the resources to give the help asked for, then truthfully say that you cannot help this person right now. Have faith that God will bring the right person to give assistance. Step away with a happy and peaceful attitude.
If you are worried about being snookered, you should also put your mind at rest. You are not the karma police. There are angels for that. Instead, always act from within your own integrity, never violate your own needs, and always ask your Guardian Angel for the correct choice to make. This reminds me of that wonderful scene in Victor Hugo’s Les Misérables. The thief steals the candlesticks and the wise host of the home says, “I have just bought your soul.” When someone takes advantage of you, this gives you the right to wish blessings and enlightenment on your perpetrator.
5. Can we incur negative karma by trying to help someone?
Yes we can, when our intentions are not correct and when we are not feeling empathy for what they really can accept as helpful. If we act with will force, we try to force our ideas on someone else. Whenever we try to actively intervene in a person’s rhythm, we incur karmic debt. This is because we have demonstrated that we lack empathy in a certain area.
What is the most karma-free way to give service?
Think small. Kindness to strangers is absolutely the most karma-free way to help someone. Also animals and children can be helped in small ways that do not frighten them or overturn their lives. Affirmations for blessing are never a mistake. Everyone wants you to wish the best for them. Pray that their sweetest fantasies will come through for them with miracles and more blessings echoing out from them into the universe.
What way accumulates the most positive energy?
You won’t like the answer. It is the long term service of caregiving for the elderly—specifically, those in your family whom you have been trying to escape for most of your life. That’s the hard way. It never fits comfortably. You always wish you were somewhere else, and there is danger that you might not live up to the challenge.
There is an easier way, a lower risk way—affirmations and visualizing blessings! If you are trying to help anyone, you may say something like:
MAY THIS PERSON EXPRESS THE DIVINE IDEA
IN HIS/HER MIND, BODY, AND AFFAIRS.
(Florence Scovel Shinn)
or
_____________ GETS IT RIGHT
ALL BY HIMSELF/HERSELF IN GOD’S LIGHT
AND I AM VERY PROUD OF HIM/HER.
Picture your friend happy, rich, healthy, etc. Whenever this person crosses your mind, bless her/him and say good things. This accumulates the most positive energy without attachment.
6. At which degree of Initiation does service become a continual lifestyle?
At the Third Degree of Initiation (3DI), when the order of the time is to be a vessel of the Divine Purpose. This is not a state of perfection, but a time of mission and action.
7. Meditation Exercise: Crystal Channel
This visualization is especially helpful during moments when you feel that your personality or emotions are interfering with your success.
• Pretend that you are an empty clay pot. Your walls are dense, thick, and opaque. No light shines through. You are waiting.
• A golden stream of sparkling Divine Energy pours into your opening. It fills the bottom of your emptiness with bright living waters. It gradually fills you all the way to the top and continues to pour into you as it overflows.
• Without ceasing the golden stream continues to pour into you. It churns in your center, flows over your top and down your sides. You begin to feel the waters affecting a change in you.
• Slowly, your density and opacity are giving way to a clear nature. As the golden stream pours down and moves within you, the walls of the pot become crystalline and beautifully faceted like an intricately designed, transparent vase.
• The bottom falls out of your structure. As the golden stream continues to pour into you, you have become a tube, a pipe, a channel of this golden energy. It flows into you and then out into the universe.

I Am a Channel of God’s Healing and Blessing
Implanted in the very core of our natures is the genuine need to share. Very early in our existence we discover that any experience generates more power, more meaning, and more satisfaction in the presence of another person—human, animal, or other living being. Thus we seek out companionship wherever we go and in whatever we set our hands to. At a very basic level, this is the foundation for the Network of Light. This need to feel connected creates a vibrant strand of energy (commonly termed cables) that exist both in the Astral and Mental dimensions We attach these cables to those we love, hate, need, and remember. They vary in thickness and strength, but all cables (excepting that connecting us to the Guardian Angel and the soul mate) are easily severed.
Visualize yourself connected to hundreds of loving friends and helpers, attached by golden strands of light. We avoid negative ties, and sever them quickly with our blessing and good will. You and your cables comprise a knot in the beautiful net of light that permeates the entire universe. Any blessing occurring along this net is passed along throughout the whole structure.
The virgin spirit receives help and blessing from many sources. It reaches a certain point of maturity and then feels the urge to follow the example of its benefactors. It wants to help others in the way that it has been helped.
With every action there is harvested an energy wave, which can be either negative or positive. Good intentions count slightly for the quality of this energy, but the bulk of its composition rests in the interaction between the activator and the receiver. If the action brings on pain and damage, the energy wave reverberates with it. If the action brings on relief, peace, and healing, then the energy wave also surges with this beneficial frequency. At the spiritual levels below the 3DI, There are seldom interactions between two individuals that are undiluted blessing. Usually, they are tainted with subtexts and hidden agenda.
Through many adventures in trying to help others, the disciple realizes that there are certain laws that facilitate a peaceful life, which benefits all at a pure level of expression.
1. The Light may not intervene unless specifically requested.
2. The finest help is to connect one to his or her Divine Plan.
3. Do nothing extra, lest will-force be in play.
4. Pray and bless without ceasing.
5. The greatest guidance is example.
6. The greatest comfort is listening.
7. The most obvious solution is not always the best solution.
8. Always request Divine Guidance before acting.
9. Always be serious about your own actions
10. Never be serious about the actions of others.
11. Personal ties prevent intentions of undiluted blessing.
12. The correct approach is always with faith only in Divine Order.

The hand that I hold is my own.
The need that I fill is mine also.
No matter what I set my heart and mind to
The work flies to and from the same point.
Although we seem apart, you and I,
We are like electrons in the same atom
And our joint purpose and direction create our harmony.
