Legends Based in Fact:

Atlantis & Lemuria

Lecture based Questions:

1. Draw or describe a reminder or symbol of one of your helpers.

Helpers can be ancestors, friends, loved ones, angels, nature spirits, teachers, guides, and Masters. Pick one and meditate on how this helper has improved the quality of your life.

2. Who were the citizens of Atlantis and Lemuria?

Some of us were the citizens of this island during our former incarnations. Many of the members of Hierarchy were young souls during the time of the fabled civilizations. If you were incarnated during that time, you would not have liked yourself very much. Emotions were very passionate and volatile.

The variety of people-species in the world was greater then than it is now. The differences in physical appearance would be incredible to us today. I am not saying that all these varieties of people were living in peace, but the general acceptance of differences was greater by necessity. The gene pool had a much broader spectrum than it does now and our mitochondrial DNA had at least 7 different varieties.

Dark magic was as rampant as good science. Nearly everyone practiced both. Some became extremely powerful in the black arts. Many people who then abused power have now already paid immense karmic debts and are building up their personal power to become active citizens of Light again.

This was not a free society. Slavery was the game of the day and cutthroat ambition made living a precarious state in the circles of power and possession. The privileged few had everything and were the only people allowed to own land or durable goods. The serving class lived in the compounds of the dynasty families. These properties were each like plantations complete with small factories and offices. The middle class did not exist. Freemen such as artisans, businessmen, warriors, farmers, and laborers all lived by contract on the land of their employers. Guilds or unions were squelched regularly, but would continue to exist through secret meetings. You can see a resemblance to the feudal system of the Middle Ages. Might made right, and human rights were sparse.

3. What were these places like?

The island continent was a crescent shaped landmass approximately the size of Texas. It was very close to the African and European lands and enjoyed much commerce.

There were no skyscrapers such as we have now. The tallest buildings did not exceed eight stories. The most distinctive feature of the buildings were their fanciful shapes and colors. Many of them had beautifully enclosed bridges shaped like arches. The buildings were painted in all imaginable colors and designs reflecting the fashions of the day and the personal preferences of the owners. Technology was at a height that has only just now been equaled. Their approach to science reflected a short-term planning structure and a dislike of large-scale earth moving. Mining operations were not widespread on that island; metals and jewels were mostly imported from the mainland. The wealth of the area was from enterprise, conquest, and some rare minerals that could be easily culled from shallow diggings.

Size of an object was not important but its entertainment value was. One could find a whimsical form to every functional object. Metallurgy and ceramics were artistically and functionally beautiful. The sewer system was well developed but much of it ran through pipes out in the open (going underground would have required a great deal of distasteful excavation). Electronics and mechanics were also highly developed, yet their philosophies tended to encourage small gadgets. Transportation devices were notable. They could move groups of people very quickly.

Atlantis and Lemuria both enjoyed hot springs. Much of their plumbing and bathing was founded on the subterranean waters and much of their energy came from steam generators. This reminds me very much of the lifestyle that Iceland has cultivated.

4. When did this island exist?

The actual heyday of this civilization was before the last ice age. Archeologists would not find any remnants of the actual site, for it was completely destroyed. The trade cities and colonies are the only places where we would be likely to find any remaining records or artifacts. Look especially to India for some Atlantean type art. The time of its development was gradual and the golden period lasted about four hundred years.

Flower A. Newhouse said that this island ceased to exist over 20 thousand years ago. Its destruction was during the spring in the year of a mega-volcano, located under the island itself. The sediment from this eruption will be soon discovered by vulcanologists.

5. Where was the continent located?

Just south of where the tip of the boot of Italy is now. Mt. Vesuvius is a vestige of the volcanic outlet that caused the destruction of the continent. Some dramatic terraforming was caused by the eruption, causing new high ground to elevate and sinking some land masses that had been part of the Atlantean structure.

6. Why are so many people interested in the legend Atlantis?

Some of us had happy lifetimes then, and the Mental Body sometimes feel nostalgia for past experiences when we might have had more fun or adventures. Others are hoping that we could reclaim what was best of that era and incorporate it into our own time.

The truth is that this present day is the best of times so far. We are all wiser, more innovative, less violent, and better at dealing with the stresses of existence.

9. Meditation Exercise: The Worth of a Day

No matter what has come to you during the hours of today, these experiences are valuable and contribute to your spiritual development. Following is a short exercise to gain an objective, humorous, and appreciative view of what you have just gained.

• Make a winding motion with your hands as though you were rewinding the film in an old-fashioned camera. Say, “The greatness of today is beyond my understanding, but now I wish to see the gold for what it is.”

• Imagine a red button in front of you. Push it and say, “play.”

• Your Guardian Angel is directing the film for you, and she takes the replay to moments of intense emotion. Allow each of these episodes to play through.

• Note the reaction of your solar plexus as you experience the moments again. Whenever your solar plexus contracts or speeds up, stop and apply cleansing ultra-violet and then stabilizing powder blue light to the chakra.

• During this replay, you may or may not understand the potential of what you have gone through. Just relax about this, it often takes years to fully assimilate any situation.

• When you have finished the day, say, “God completes my day with perfect understanding, blessing, and success. Thank you for my education and my adventures.”

Nostalgia for the Past

The greatest blessings for mankind have little to do with events in the physical world. Each of us must come to this realization eventually, and put into perspective the points of history that have accumulated an aura of romance and mythic cachet. The greatest gift from the past is to learn about the correct directions we may take to adapt and prepare for what may come in the future.

Atlantis and Lemuria were brief (albeit intense) flashes in the long history of the earth. Humanity had many variations of form during that time. These had their own values and talents. Some resembled birds, some reptiles, some bears, some felines, some canines. All were equally intelligent. The rights of some were greater than others depending on aggression and strength. The human species that we now embody is also a transient form that will some day find alteration through earth changes. The island nature of the land mass afforded some protection from fiercer life forms on the greater African and European lands. This allowed a short-lived period of prosperity and civilized development.

The destruction of this era took place with a cataclysmic volcanic eruption that wiped out the entire continent’s life as well as most of the life in the surrounding lands and seas. This contributed to a winter that lasted many years. The colonized islands that were far away from the volcanic eruption were the ones that harbored surviving citizens. However, the cold climate changes wiped out many of our variations of species as well as of other types of life.

With the Great Coldness there came the end of many interesting and beautiful forms of life on this planet. The seas gave up many warm-blooded species, for there was no place for them to find temperate waters to support them. Plants that had grown abundantly were forever extinguished in the killing frosts. Animals without fur or thick hides foundered for lack of comfort. The life that survived this winter had the ability to successfully withstand great differences in temperature. With this tale we can take a lesson about climate and its delicate balance.

The next great eruption may take place within a few thousand years. Until then and afterward, we continue our struggles for enlightenment.
