This Friday & Saturday is the MS state tournament! I hope you are all very excited! Hopefully you saw emails from Gary about state and Amber about a team dinner. We have the schedule: https://play.usaultimate.org/events/2019-Utah-MS-Boys-Open-State-Championship/schedule/Boys/Middle-School-Boys/.
CHUMS have a very good chance of playing in the championship game, if we give it 100%. Please remember that good spirit of the game is critical. Get plenty of rest, eat healthy, and come prepared to run HARD and play SMART! Here are the details on this weekend's events:
Thu 5/9 5-6:30 Practice @ PVP. HS & MS. Thursday is not normally a practice day, but we want to have a final review of zone, force, vert stack & H stack before state.
Thu 5/9 6:30-7 Team dinner @ PVP. See the email from Amber on what to bring (if you didn't see that email, just bring a pasta, salad, Fr bread or dessert). Carbs!!!!
Fri 5/10 3:30-8:15 Utah MS State Tournament. Weber County Fairgrounds, Ogden. We have a first round bye (yay!) which means our first game starts at 5:15. But we want to beat traffic and be on time, so let's meet at PVP at 3:15 to carpool. Please be on time, we don't want to forfeit any of these games. Parents, who else will be driving? Click here to see the schedule on utahultimate or here to see the schedule on usaultimate.
Sat 5/11 9-4:45 Utah MS State Tournament. Weber County Fairgrounds, Ogden. Plan on meeting at 9a at PVP to carpool. There is only one 9a game on Saturday, between 2 of the 3rd place teams from pool play. All other games start at 11a. I am fairly confident we will be starting at 11a, but prepared for an earlier start just in case.
Volunteers at the tournament. *Important* We have been asked to provide 2 volunteers each day for 2 hr shifts for the tournament to help setup, cleanup, keep the water jugs filled, keep the fields clean, etc. A big thanks to family members who stepped up to help out at the HS tournament last weekend. It really helped the tournament go smoothly. Please see the link in the email below to sign up.
High School: Fri & Sat practice as usual. Captains, please make this happen. I will be at the tournament, but these practices are critical - so please send out a reminder and run the practice. Come support the MS team if you can!
Here is the email from Joe Strong, state youth coordinator. Note that we don't have any teams in the HS DII state championships, so just pay attention to the MS announcements below:

Hey All:
Sorry for getting this out so late. We had a last minute addition that changed the schedule, so I had to restart around 10.
There are a few important things to note:
Volunteers - We need help keeping thing running smoothly during these tournaments. Please ask your parents or kids from teams playing in DI next weekend to take a shift Volunteering to help. Especially on the Setup and Clean Up. I really need each team to supply at least 2 people (hopefully more). Here is the link again: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1e_Hce042QdewuWgdfQYj826p0r6prmGv7P1nh7k8f24/edit#gid=1566982420
Location: We are up at the Weber County Fairground. Generally Traffic is not bad around 2-3 in the afternoon. So it should be fairly easy to get there; but remember it is still a fairly long drive for most teams. Plan accordingly to arrive on time.
Schedule - The official schedules are on USAU. I have mirrored them on to UtahUltimate.org so that we can collect Spirit Scores as you end game scores. You will notice that there are Consolation Games in the Middle School Tournament (the joys of 9 team tournaments) on USAU that are not on UtahUltimate.org; this is due to software compatibility issues. I will enter those scores in manually.
Captains Meeting - We will have a Captains meeting at 3:00 on Friday. We will be doing both Middle School and High School at the same time. For Middle School there are a few teams that have a Bye the first round, please plan on a Captians Meeting at 4:45 for those teams.
If you have any questions between now and tomorrow, please let me know.
