Registration is fixed as of Tuesday, 9/14. You should be able to once again register and pay. If it says 'registration closed' when you try to register or pay, hang tight! They are working to get that fixed. I will let you know when it is fixed.
Fall Schedules are now available! https://utah.usetopscore.com/e/fall-2021-youth-league/standings ------ CHills has a D1 and a D2 team:
CHills D1 Upcoming Schedule: https://utah.usetopscore.com/t/chills-b . First game Wed, 9/15 at Doxey Elementary in Sunset .
CHills D2 Upcoming Schedule: https://utah.usetopscore.com/t/chills-b-1. First game Wed, 9/15 at Lehi Elementary in Lehi .
Note that both games are rather far away. Let's plan on meeting at CHHS at 2:45p for those who would like to carpool. I know that much of D2 team is coming from middle school, so they can plan on leaving at 3 or 3:15 from CHHS to give players a little more time to get there. D2 game isn't quite as far away as D1 game anyway.
CH Teams: First, if you attended any of our tryout sessions, you have completed the first of 2 steps toward making the team! Congratulations! Step 2 is to complete your registration (see above). Once those 2 things are complete, you have made the team. It is possible to still make the team even if you were not able to make it to tryouts, but it is a little more difficult. You must participate in 5 practices as well as completing your registration before you are on the team.
Age qualifications for this fall season are U19 (under 19) for high school and U15 (under 15) for middle school. Under 19 means if you turn 19 after 12/31/2021, you are eligible for high school league. If you turn 15 after 12/31/2021 you are eligible for middle school league. I am currently registering a Division 1 high school team (CHills D1) and a middle school team (CHUMS). You can view the Copper Hills Teams here. Hopefully I will be registering a Division 2 high school team as well (CHills D2) by the deadline Wednesday. But that depends on how many or you register in time. Please try to get it done today during your day off! If we register a CHills D2 team, some MS players will be allowed and asked to play with the D2 team when it does not conflict with MS games. High school players may also be asked to play for the other team (D1 or D2) depending on need and your consistency and work at practice.
Fall Registration: League registration is $60, plus $17 for a USAU membership (if you played in the spring, you should already have a USAU membership). Register online here: https://utahultimate.org/e/fall-2021-youth-league/register . You will be asked to accept a liability waiver online with a parent and pay your $60 (or $77 if you also need a USAU membership). If you did not play spring league, make sure you also pay $17 for a USAUltimate membership during registration. If this is your first time registering, creating an account is free. You will not be charged until you add fall league to your cart and check out. Please let me know if you have any questions or problems with the registration process or if you are unable to see yourself on the team after you register and we will work through the problems. High school players: Put yourself on the CHills D1 team for now when you register. We will separate D1 & D2 later if we have a separate D2 team. Reach out if you don't see yourself on the D1 team after you complete your registration.
I don't want cost to prevent anyone who wants to play on the team from participating. If cost is an issue for you, please reach out to me individually (rickywx@gmail.com or via groupme or text). Ultimate is one of the most affordable high school sports (special equipment & uniforms are optional; only the aforementioned league fee and USAU membership are required). We can work something out in order to allow you to afford the league fees.
Registration is fixed as of Tuesday, 9/14. You should be able to once again register and pay. If it says 'registration closed' when you try to register or pay, hang tight! They are working to get that fixed. I will let you know when it is fixed.

As a team, other than announcements at practice, we typically use 3 methods for sending and receiving messages:
Email: chdisc@googlegroups.com . The website for this Google group is https://groups.google.com/g/chdisc . For any news, events, or updates, I will typically add them here on our website and then send out a link to both the email list and to groupme. Most of the emails on the list are updates from coaches, but the email list is available for communcation between parents, players, and coaches as needed. We average only 1-2 emails / week during the season. If you want to unsubscribe from the email list, instructions are at the bottom of each email: "To unsubscribe from this group and stop receiving emails from it, send an email to chdisc+unsubscribe@googlegroups.com" . (I get a handful of requests to "take me off the list," which I can do, but they could have also just sent their email to chdisc+unsubscribe@googlegroups.com and automatically unsubscribed rather than troubling me - if you want to unsubscribe, just do it - don't ask me).
Parents & players are always welcome to reach out to me via email (rickywx@gmail.com) or groupme (https://groupme.com/contact/24289978/BIH5kR7r). The team is always in need of help from parents and family members for transportation, tournament volunteers, chaperones, team dinner, uniform orders, etc. If you can help, please contact me.
3. CHDisc All Groupme for Family, Friends, Coaches & Players. https://groupme.com/join_group/50837699/dsBaaSbA Groupme is the free messaging app that we use for the majority of team communication. The app is available for iphone or android. You can also join without downloading the app by opting to receive the messages through text. Groupme also provides a web interface at groupme.com if you would rather use it through your web browser. All players, parents, and everyone who is interested in receiving team updates and announcements should join The CHDisc All groupme group. This group is also intended for parent communication to arrange things such as rides to games, etc. without being overwhelmed by the large number of messages from player discussions. Typically 1-3 messages / week during the season.
4. CHDisc Players Groupme: for team discussion . https://groupme.com/join_group/50837699/dsBaaSbA . The CHDisc Players group is intended for player discussion. Both groupme groups are open to anyone involved with CH ultimate who is willing to communicate respectfully, but the players group is intended for player discussions, which can have fairly heavy traffic during the season. I find that parents & family members might start to ignore messages because there are so many, and then they might miss important announcements and updates. Typically 20+ messages / week during the season.
What you can expect:
Cost: $60 league. $17 USAU membership. Approx $40 for optional uniform (navy blue jersey & white jersey with name & number). Potential total cost: ~$120.
If you registered last spring, your USAU membership is still valid. You just need to pay the league fee.
Uniform is not required. I have some spares for to loan out at games, if you want. It is only required that you bring a white shirt and a dark shirt to games. Most players opt to purchase uniforms. Because compared to equipment required for other sports, ultimate uniforms are very reasonably priced.
We will be taking uniform orders very soon! Keep your eyes out for a message about uniform orders.
Your fees go toward paying for fields, equipment, insurance, and administration. Thank you for registering and paying them as quickly as possible!
Time: Practices are every Mo, Th 5:15-7p, and Sa 8:30-10:30a at Park Village Park, 7600s 4800w. Games are We, 9/15- 4-7 (not necessarily the whole 3 hours) in various locations TBA. The tournament will be 11/5-6 (Friday afternoon and all day Saturday).
We understand that you have jobs, mutual, homework, tests, family responsibilities, etc. However, please be consistent at practice. It's nearly impossible to learn how to work as a team unless you are consistently at practice.
Players are encouraged to get out and throw a frisbee or run/workout on their own in addition to practice regularly when possible.
There are other opportunities to play / practice ultimate every week (pickup games, community events, etc). I will send out announcements for these events when I can. Hopefully you can take advantage of these opportunities from time to time in addition to practices. It will really help you become a better player.
Growth: If you are consistent at practice, expect that you WILL become a better ultimate player this season!
At the end of the season, you will feel more confident throwing flicks, evading a defender, and throwing around a defender. You will run faster, longer, and smarter. You will throw more accurately and with more precision and better timing.
Also, we will be working on something this season that I haven't really focused on before: the mental game. In addition to more confidence, my goal is for you to be more resilient and quickly shake off mistakes and get your head back in the game rather than dwelling on those mistakes. Psychology is an incredibly underrated part of the game, and we want to establish a culture of confidence, resilience, teamwork, and good spirit.
