State
Keep throwing! You have a few days left. I want to give away more discs! More importantly, I want you to get better. Make sure you put it in the spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1U69RwB24NwwOZsBOyq6TcEzem4RgBnI3RaeAdnhAfVY
Time Change
Due to the time change this past weekend, practice times have been moved to 3:30pm until spring. We will not have enough time before dark otherwise. Practice will be 3:30-6 on Mon, Nov 5, and 3:30-5pm on Thu, Nov 9 (followed by the team dinner at 5pm). We will have pickup Tue, Nov 6, 3:30-5:30. No practice Sat Nov 11 - we'll be at state.
Team Potluck Dinner, MS & HS
To fuel up and to do some teambuilding, it is tradition for us to have a team potluck dinner the day before state or region. Check your email for details of the dinner. Here's a summary: We'll end practice at 4:30ish on Thu Nov 9 to give you time to get to Tate and Thane Laker's house 8264 S Sunny Vista Lane, West Jordan for a 5pm team dinner. Bring a dessert or salad. Big thanks to Tate & Thane's family for hosting!
Winter pickup, MS & HS
Although winter pickup is optional, it's highly recommended. If you want to be competitive with the top teams in the state (Lone Peak, Timpview, Krakens, etc), do not consider winter pickup as optional. Also for the boys team, in the spring there will be 7 boys on the field as opposed to 4 boys like now. This means there will be new spots open on the A Team. Who is going to step up to fill those spots? Winter practice will be a very important part of 'stepping up'.
Results of the winter practice poll are here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1L3dfHiKL5qcZLhvT_Q5mh6dUUq5hglly2OrBO14ttQg/edit#responses
Monday, Thursday and Saturday are the clear winners, so practice days will remain the same through the winter. Only the times will change:
Monday and Thursday
Saturday
It's more beneficial for everyone if advanced players play advanced players and newer players play newer players, so for pickup we'll start with smaller games, pairing by skill level (goaltimate/boot and/or 3v3) and then we'll switch to full field with everyone later during the pickup (if we get 12+ players).
And keep throwing through the winter. The winter 3000 challenge starts immediately after state!
I am looking at the possibility of practicing 5 days / week in the spring so we can be competitive with top teams such as Lone Peak, Timpview and the Krakens. It would be 2 days of pickup and 3 days of drills and scrimmage. Let me know your thoughts.
