Practice/pickup Th 3:30 (today) at Park Village Park as usual. Starting with tryouts next week, our practices will be more than just playing ultimate or boot. Although of course we will still do that at practice, we will be running drills, working on skills, and have a bit more structure in our practices. I look forward to seeing some great improvement from you guys!
Saturday conditioning at * 9am * at Park Village Park. Note the time change. This was a survey question, and overwhelmingly, you voted to keep our Saturday conditioning workouts, but move it back to 9am. The hope is that the later time will encourage more players to attend. Thanks for your feedback on that.
Tryouts next week! Tu-Th 3:30-5:30 & Sa 9-11:30 at Park Village Park. Invite friends, and especially get yourself there. You need to be there at least 1 day, but you are encouraged to come as many days as you can. Click here for fliers to give to your friends. The fliers now include info about the club meeting/social on Tuesday (see below).
Brian is working on hanging fliers at Copper Hills. I think Hayden posted fliers at West Hills. Any ideas how can we get fliers hung at our neighbor schools (WJHS,KHS,Hunter,Herriman,Tville) and other middle schools?
Club welcome social/meeting Tu 2:30 right after school in Coach Smith's classroom. It's not required that you be there, but if you can make it, fantastic. The purpose of this meeting is to introduce the CH Ultimate Club and team to new players, and for returning players and new players to get to know one another.
CH Ultimate club is ultimate for casual players - they just get together and play once / month ish.
Here are my thoughts on an outline for this meeting, but ultimately this is your meeting, so it's up to you guys:
(2mins) Open, introduce the presenters, pass around a sign-up sheet. Let them specify club, team, or both. Any volunteers to make intros?
(2-3mins) Watch a quick ultimate highlight video to start.
(5-7mins) One of the returning players can really quickly explain what ultimate is: A basic overview of the game, and why it's awesome. Volunteers for this presentation?
(5-10mins) Spencer introduces the club and provides some potential dates for ultimate club games. I think the club can use the CHHS practice fields, but I'm not sure. Spencer, can you address that question at the meeting?
(5-10mins) One of the coaches introduce the team and explain tryouts, practices, games, tournaments.
Get out the goodies and chat for the last segment of the meeting. Play some more highlight plays in the background? If we stay on schedule, the presentations should only take 30-35 minutes. That leaves 25-30 minutes for social interaction time. Returning players: please take time to introduce yourself and talk to new players. This is a HUGE recruiting opportunity, and if they feel comfortable with the team, it will go a long way toward them loving ultimate so they keep coming. Tell them you have been playing on the team and how much you love it. Ask them about themselves: Name, grade, why are you interested in ultimate? How much have you played before? And let them know we LOVE new players.
Cool stuff ;-) - Not only is Copper Hills official now with A,B, Girls and Middle School teams and USAU insurance, yesterday I purchased a domain for our team website! Our website has been hosted here on google sites (https://sites.google.com/site/chhsultimatedisc). That is still the case, but now you can just type ultimatechills.club into your web browser, and it will take you to our site. This is just a small thing, but it's pretty cool. If you are interested in the details, or just interested in learning more about how the web works, check out this page explaining the process I went through to get us a domain name.
Registration. Be sure to take care of your own registration ASAP. For returning players, it's 2 simple steps: pay your usaultimate.org 2017 dues ($34.50) and sign off the waiver. Follow these instructions. Please, please, please if you want to help out the coach, get this done now so I don't have to bug you about it later.
Questionnaire. Thanks to everyone who took time to fill out our 2017 spring questionnaire! Big hi-5 to you! It lets the coaches know which days are best for scheduling practices and games, as well as how to plan practices. If you haven't filled it out, please fill it out here ASAP!
Calendar. The team calendar has been updated. Check it out on our home page.
