Hey All:
The Spring Season is right around the corner. We have been busy trying to get everything nailed down this year. This season will be the greatest season in Utah Ultimate yet.
If you plan to have a team this year, please fill out this form as soon as possible.
Get Registered for Upcoming Events:
Spring League - See Calendar
https://utahultimate.org/e/youth-spring-league-2020
Price for the Spring League is $90 per player. This year we are including the USAU Membership in our pricing for events. We are also including the State Tournament in with the Spring League pricing this year.
YouThaw 3v3 Youth Tournament - March 21st (moved from March 28th)
https://utahultimate.org/e/youthaw2020
This will be the first tournament of the year. Its primary purpose is to be used to help teams recruit new players and give players a chance to get lots of touches early in the season. There are 5 different Divisions: Elite Girls, Elite Boys, HS Girls, HS Boys, & MS Open. Teams can consist of up to 5 players. Teams are not boundary-based meaning that teams can be made up of anyone who wants to play. Cost is $50 per team to play.
Daweena - May 1st & 2nd
https://utahultimate.org/e/daweena-2020
Daweena has been expanded to include a Girls Division this year. Team dues for Daweena are $300 per team this year. Due to limited field space we may not have field space for all teams; thus we are currently accepting bids to Daweena.
State Tournament - May 29th & 30th
https://utahultimate.org/e/spring-states-2020
State this year will be at one location for High School Boys, High School Girls, and Middle School Open. It will be May 29th and 30th. For players who are not participating in Spring League, State is $55, which includes their USAU Membership. One location with 40+ Teams; this is bound to be the largest Youth Tournament held in Utah.
For teams that have already set their Teams up on USAU and have paid their Memberships directly to USAU; please reach out to Joe.Strong@UtahUltimate.org for discount pricing.
Team Rosters
As we try to simplify the team rostering and comply with new regulation on Youth Protection, this year we are asking teams to fill out the attached Spreadsheet and send it back to youth@UtahUltimate.org. We will be taking this form and creating teams in USAU for you. This will allow us to ensure every team has a properly trained Coach and Chaperones as well as payment completion for players memberships. If you have already built your team on USAU and paid for player memberships please reach out to Joe.Strong@UtahUltimate.org.
Here are a couple of important changes to be aware of:
New Rule Book 2020-21 Edition. Please take a minute to read through them: https://www.usaultimate.org/resources/officiating/rules/2020_2021rules.aspx
Significant Changes include:
Travel no longer a stoppage if disc is not thrown.
Dangerous Play does not need contact
Players can agree to ask the sideline for ‘best perspective’ (can not ask Coaches for perspective, however Coaches can be consulted for rule clarification only.)
Both Teams can assign sideline players to watch and call off-sides
Middle School Open 5v5
One of our Goals is to increase touches for younger players and to encourage player growth over wins.
There are a couple of rule adaptations that apply to middle school
No cup zones
No turn on dropped pulls - if they attempt to catch (Swatting or knocking downs will still result in turnover)
Arm length marking (not disc space)
Middle School Girls 5v5
We are starting a new middle school girls league. This will run different weekends than the rest of the league. So middle school girls may be able to play with one of their high school teams or in the middle school open league (which will be primarily boys). These games and tournaments will not conflict with the middle school girls tournaments.
If you have any Questions, feel free to reach out by either email or phone.
