LPI Location and Schedule Change: Take 2!!!
They were able to find fields in Layton for the Lone Peak Invite. Sorry for all the changes! The good news is that we don't have to drive all the way to Logan for the tournament, and the Friday portion of the tournament is back on! It also means we will be a lot closer to the B Team tournament.
Meeting time remains the same on Saturday for everyone: Meet at 7:30am at Park Village Park. On Friday, meet at Copper Hills at 2:30 right after school by the relocatable classrooms and the driving range to carpool.
The schedule will revert to the original plan, detailed here: http://play.usaultimate.org/events/Lone-Peak-Invite-2017/
I posted the email thread in the comments if you are interested in why this change occurred.
Middle School girls who would like to play in this tournament with the high school girls team are invited to do so. The high school girls can always use more help.
B Team Round Robin schedule has changed slightly, but start times and location remain unchanged.
Meet at Park Village Park at 7:30 Saturday morning.
Remember to bring a white shirt and a dark shirt (preferably navy blue) if you don't have your uniform yet.
Jackson Booth will be coaching the B Team; I will be coaching the other teams in Logan.
The updated schedule is here:
Team Potluck / Parent's Meeting at Park Village Park Thursday at 6pm after practice.
We have a tradition of a potluck carb dinner before big tournaments to get fueled up for the tournament and to kick back a little before the tournament.
Bring your fave carb dish (pasta, potatoes, rolls, etc) or a salad or dessert. All teams - boys, girls, and middle school and families are invited.
We'll practice 5-6ish, and then I have some information about the season for parents while the teams scrimmage. Let's huddle up and eat about 6:30.
Other Items
Uniforms have been ordered. We usually have them back within 2 weeks.
I highly recommend Salt Lake County Rec Spring League (for ages 16-adult) and Salt Lake County Youth League (for ages 10-15). These leagues are $30, but you will learn a lot, get a great workout, have some fun, and become a better player! These leagues are administered by the county, thus they are separate from our high school / middle school league. But instruction and coaching in the county youth league is provided by many of the middle school coaches. Registration Deadline Mar 22 (Mar 20 for the adult rec league).
Spring 3000. Throw, throw, throw! It will make a *HUGE* difference in your game! It's always nice to get yourself an extra disc in the process. Players who throw 3000 throws outside of games during the season get to pick from some sweet swag (jerseys, shorts, discs, powerade, etc). But you MUST count your throws. No guessing. And you need to record your throws in the spreadsheet: https://sites.google.com/site/chhsultimatedisc/training/3000-throw-challenge . Add your name if you are not already there. I want to see a ton of 3000s (or more) in that spreadsheet.
Score Reporting. (From an email from Eric Holt, Sky View coach):
This is the place we would like you to report your scores for this year. We are working on doing something similar to the rankings system that Jim Barnes has done in years past, but it may be a little bit. For now, please report your scores each week and we will update standings. This way you can see other teams records, as well as who has played who, and we can use this for seeding down the road.
