HS State Tournament, May 17-18
https://utahultimate.org/e/2019-di-spring-state-championships
*These are the most likely scenarios based on our seeding for boys, but hopefully we do better than our seeding and these change a little! Girls locations will not change.
**Girls have pool play Friday. Boys have no pool play and start directly into bracket play.
*** See the announcement email for coaches below. I will send out a link to the tournament packet as soon as I receive it.
Captains: We need to enter scores online immediately after games at the links above.
Parents, family members and friends: Each team is supposed to provide 2 volunteers each day of the tournament. It's only a 2hr shift. Thanks to those who helped in previous tournaments. Please sign up to help out again! Sign ups are here:
Team Dinner: Th, 5/16 7p @ Thane's house, 8264 Sunny Vista Lane. All teams invited! Scroll down to see the email announcement and what to bring.
Senior Day: May 22 5-8p in the CH football stadium. Come honor this year's seniors! Showcase game & other fun events! Invite your family and friends!
Practices: We, Th 5pm. Captains have scheduled a Wednesday practice at 5. We will have a light practice Thursday 5-6:30 before the team dinner at 7.
Summer: We will take 1 week off after the state tournament and then resume practices during the last week of May. I will organize 2 pickup games / week throughout the summer. You are welcome and encouraged to organize more. There are many additional opportunities to play through the summer. Please take advantage of these opportunities!!! How much you play / practice during the summer will determine how much you set yourself apart from other teams and other players. I can't stress this enough. You have 3 months free of school and schoolwork. 1-2 hours a day 5 days / week of some sort of practice or training consistently through the summer will be enough to set yourself apart when fall season rolls around.
Middle School Results
Big Hi-5 to the CHUMS team for a 3rd place finish at the state tournament! Awesome!!!! Very proud of these kids. They all worked *very* hard. Fun facts: 1) 3rd place is the highest finish of of any CH team ever in a state tournament so far. 2) In this tournament, we lost only to Lone Peak A and Cache Valley A, the 1st & 2nd place teams. 3) Only 2 points were scored against LPA throughout all 5 games of the tournament. We scored 1 and Cache Valley A scored the other. 4) CHUMS notched wins against West Krakens, 13-3, LPB 13-7, and Liberty Park Squirrels 12-9 who we lost to in overtime during our regular season game with them.

Coaches,
The DI tournament packets have been posted here: https://utahultimate.org/e/2019-di-spring-state-championships
Please note that the Google docs version will be the most up-to-date should any changes need to be made.
There are 3 main items for today:
1. Boys DI - Lehi will NOT be competing this weekend. We asked several of the top-placing DII teams to fill the position, but no other teams are available. We have decided to leave Lehi in the schedule, but ALL of their games will be forfeits. We are still working to get an exhibition team to play the teams normally scheduled in those games. We will contact those teams individually with updates.
2. Payments - We are still missing the following team registration and/or payments ($150) on the Utah Ultimate site. Please make please do this by tonight:
Timpanogos Boys
Jordan Boys - register only (paying by check)
Lone Peak B Girls
Sky View Girls
Jordan Girls - register only (paying by check)
Logan Girls
3. VOLUNTEERS! - Every HS team is expected to provide at least 2 team parents/players to volunteer 2 hours at every tourney this season. If we don’t get enough volunteers each season UUDA may have to raise fees or penalize teams that don’t provide volunteers. Please jump on this opportunity ASAP to keep our youth Ultimate seasons affordable with parent support.
Sign up tonight for the three locations hosting D1 Girls and Boys States + the championship game at Bingham HS stadium. We need every teams’ support!
Please pass along to your players AND parents:
**Helping the Tourney Directors (Tara Wion et al) during set up at every venue Fri and Sat) are the most urgent needs we have right now. They need 6+ volunteers in each of 3 locations.
We currently only have a TOTAL of 9 volunteers. Tournaments do not run smoothly with this low of a number. Please get this spreadsheet out to all parents and players from all teams. Thank you!

Hello Coaches -
DI States are here! I'm your TD this weekend and am excited to spend some time on the field again. This email will contain everything you'll need for this week, so please READ CAREFULLY!
1. Tournament Packets will be linked on the Utah Ultimate event page. The packets should be finalized by end of day on Tuesday. Friday start times - Boy's games start at 2:00 at the Equestrian Center, Girl's games start at *4:00 at Elk Ridge Middle School* *This is a change! We were just informed that we cannot set up fields until school is out at 2:50.
2. Register - Not all teams are registered on the Utah Ultimate site. All rostering is being done through USAU, but we need you to sign your team up for the event on Utah Ultimate in order to pay for the tournament. Please do this ASAP! Register your team here if you haven't already.
**Teams who have not registered on Utah Ultimate yet are: Timponogos, Lone Peak B, Jordan, Judge, Skyline, Gorillaz, Lone Peak B Girls, Sky View, Jordan girls, Logan girls.
3. Venues - On Friday, girl's pool play will take place at Elk Ridge Middle School. Parking on Friday at Elk Ridge will be an issue since school gets out at 2:50. Please plan ahead to get there in plenty of time to navigate the parking area or wait until around 3:10 when things will clear out. On Saturday, girl's bracket play will be at the Equestrian Center and boys consolation brackets will be at Elk Ridge. The final games will be Saturday evening at Bingham High School stadium (girl's final at 5:00, boys at 7:00). All other games will be at the Equestrian Center.
4. Volunteers - Tournaments run smoothly because of people who show up to help! Please have anyone who can donate a few hours of their time to help us out. Parents, friends, coaches, players. Our biggest need will be on Friday for field set-up, both at the Equestrian Center and at Elk Ridge Middle School. Here is the spreadsheet to sign up, please let us know you'll be there so we don't panic! There are 3 tabs for the 3 different venues: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1e_Hce042QdewuWgdfQYj826p0r6prmGv7P1nh7k8f24/edit#gid=1566982420
5. Score Reporting and SOTG - Teams will be entering official team scores and spirit scores after each round on the Utah Ultimate site. Please assign someone on your team (Spirit Captain!) to be responsible for recording these. SOTG scores will only be collected via the Utah Ultimate site. If you do not report all of your Spirit scores, you will not be eligible to receive the SOTG trophy.
Good luck this weekend and please let me know if you have any questions.
