UUDA Middle School Classic Tournament Results
Awesome work middle schoolers! In every game except one, we were right in the game. They were all close. We won our crossover game. I was impressed with the spirit that you showed - it was awesome!!! Keep coming to play, as we will continue to play through the winter (see below).
Big thanks to Coach Gary for coaching the team!
State
Intersquad Scrimmage and Practice this week, MS & HS
Practice as usual: Monday and Thursday 5p, and Saturday 8a. Because it is Halloween, Tuesday pickup will only be 1 hour, 5-6. Thursday practice will be an intersquad scrimmage, so come prepared to play. It will be like a regular game. Each team will play 2 games:
5:15-6pm
CHA vs CHMS+Coaches
CHB vs CHC
CHC vs CHMS
6:15-7pm
CHA vs CHB+Coaches
Keep throwing! You have 1 week. I want to give away more discs! Make sure you put it in the spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1U69RwB24NwwOZsBOyq6TcEzem4RgBnI3RaeAdnhAfVY
Time Change
Daylight Savings Time ends next Sunday, Nov 4. We need to move our practice times to 3:30pm starting next week after the time change. We will not have enough time before dark otherwise. Practice times this week will remain the same, but practice will be 3:30-6 on Mon, Nov 5, and 3:30-5pm on Thu, Nov 9.
Team Potluck Dinner, MS & HS
To fuel up and to do some teambuilding, it is tradition for us to have a team potluck dinner the day before state or region. Families are invited! At 5pm on Thu, Nov 9, everyone bring your family and a favorite pasta, carb dish, dessert or salad. Right after practice at 5pm we will have dinner in the Park Village Park Pavilion. Since the pavilion table has been destroyed, please bring chairs and if someone could please bring a folding table it would be appreciated.
Winter pickup, MS & HS
We will continue to play ultimate through the winter. Formal practices end for the season as of the state tournament on Nov 10 & 11, but we will continue to get together at PVP to play pickup through the winter twice a week (we might even go 3x / week if enough people are interested). We will play Saturday mornings at 8:30a. It's more beneficial for everyone if advanced players play advanced players and newer players play newer players, so for pickup we'll start with smaller games (goaltimate/boot and/or 3v3) and then we'll switch to full field later during the pickup (if we get 12+ players).
Help us decide which days to play in the winter by completing this poll (click here).
And keep throwing through the winter. The winter 3000 challenge starts immediately after state!
I am looking at the possibility of practicing 5 days / week in the spring so we can be competitive with top teams such as Lone Peak, Timpview and the Krakens. Let me know your thoughts.
FREE Layton Ultimate Clinic
FREE LAYTON YOUTH ULTIMATE CLINIC
Don't forget to remind your kids about the upcoming Layton area clinic THIS SATURDAY from 2-5 at FISHER PARK in Clearfield.
I've talked to a few of you about this, but not all. Please let me know if you have kids that are planning to attend. And if not, PLEASE encourage them to do so! The better count that we know beforehand, the better the clinic will go.
We went through a lot of effort to get some high quality Ultimate instruction from top college players in the state. And they will be recruiting and giving out swag as well.
Hope you can all make it to make it a success!
Please forward to any coaches that I may have missed in the area.

Coaches,
The time is close at hand for the 2nd Annual FREE Players Clinic, sponsored by Break Force and Clearfield City. Please inform all of your players of the upcoming Clinic on Nov 4 @ Fisher Park in Clearfield, UT from 2-5 PM.
We will have almost 20 of the top college players in the state out to help teach and instruct the kids. We will have players from BYU, USU, U of U, and Weber State. We plan on having over 100+ kids come. Last year, we had over 60 with just Break Force but this year it has been extended to anyone that wants to come, specifically all of our local competition.
This is a great opportunity for both inexperienced and experienced players. They will be split into groups based on experience. Please review the attached schedule and let me know if you are willing to help as coaches in any way. Also, if you have a fairly solid count on how many kids you plan on coming, that would be great to know in advance as well.
Last year, this was a great way to recruit kids who didn't know much about the sport but wanted a relaxed way to learn about the sport of Ultimate. The college players have sacrificed time and effort to come and instruct us. It should be a great time.
Once again, please please please, encourage any and all to come up for it! ITS FREE! And there will be plenty of SWAG given.
Please send out to anyone I may have missed!
Thanks,
Shep
