I apologize that I have not been keeping everyone posted about ultimate news during the quarantine and covid-19 outbreak. But really there hasn't been much to report. As you are aware all sports activities have been suspended in the state until last week, and there has not been enough certainty about the ability to hold sports events to plan anything. The governor announced last week that outside of Summit, Wasatch, Grand Counties and SLC, WVC, and Magna, the state is moving to a yellow light, including resuming sports events with an abundance of precautions. This means that we can resume practice, although we will not be practicing for a state tournament and we will need to follow precautions outlined by state & local authorities as well as USAU & UUDA. The state tournament that was scheduled for this coming weekend is still suspended for the time being, because it was scheduled to take place in SLC, and such a large tournament wouldn't be in line with the state's yellow light precautions anyway.
However, registration for Utah's first ever youth summer club league for ages 6-19 will begin within the next week! Please stay tuned and I will keep you posted about that. Click here for some preliminary details. More, along with registration info, will be provided in the coming week. Also keep an eye on this page: https://utahultimate.org/youth-summer-club .
In addition, I think we can resume practicing / playing as CH Teams - both HS & MS. I think that some of you have already been playing a little, which is great! If enough players are interested. In the spirit of precaution and safety, I think that once or twice a week is probably adequate. Discuss it with your parents and we'll post a question in the groupme chat to find out everyone's interest level, and let's play!
Also, there is a pickup game tomorrow (Memorial Day) at 11am in Cottonwood Heights. There are lunchtime pickup games in S Jordan and Riverton and at Riverside Park most weekdays, and pickup Saturdays in Cottonwood Heights and Murray. Let me know if you are interested in any of those.
