Film Reflection Portrait

Title: Me, myself and I

Date: 5/15/17

For this project I had to do a Reflection Portrait. I chose to do to photos for this because they're both strong. On the top you see the best one, in my opinion, and they rank best to worst so the last of the first of the photo is the worst one. Then right above this you see 2 versions of the same photo and it goes best to worst. The way i created these photos was a took 3 mirrors, set them up on a stool overlapping each other. Then I took a film camera and put it in the middle. I chose to put the film camera in the photo because I wanted to show how for photography has gone since it all started. After I took these photos I brought them to photoshop, clone stamped some smudges from the mirror that were on my face, cropped it, and turned it black and white; then I played with the lighting a bit. then took the transparencies to the darkroom and for the top ones I used a paintbrush to put the developer on. For the last two, all I did was dip them, middle first in the developer and then let it set thee for the full minute. Composition rules of these photos are low key lighting and informal balance. Low key lighting shows in both because they are on the darker side. The story behind these images is to show my personality and me at the same time. It shows uniqueness and me. It shows how everyone can be different and show different things in their personality. It tells how everyone has their own unique personality. This relates to my life because it's me and it shows how I am my own person. I was born different from everyone else. One thing I would change about these photos is the quality because in my opinion, it's not strong at all.
