Zentangle Value

For this assignment our goal was to show contrast and value with line weight. I started with a long strip of paper with a 1/2 inch border. I measured out 11 boxes. Starting on one side, I made the first square's design super dark (using a 6B pencil) with a lot of detail. As I got three boxes in I switched to a 4B pencil. Another two boxes and I used a 2B...I traded pencils as I moved down the line all the way to a 4H.

As I was working on this I knew it had to show value. I wanted the first boxes (darkest) to have lot of detail so there'd not be a lot of white space. When I got the last box I had simple designs because I wanted the white paper to add to the lightness.
