Artist Research

I was inspired by Leonardo Da Vinci's "Vitruvian Man". Originally Da Vinci created this piece of work to show proportion. He was a mathematical genius and gave specific measurement for each body part. For example: a man is 24 palms. I decided to draw the figure of a basset hound. The length of a basset hound should be three times the length of its tail. Da Vinci also had his man superimposed (or spread out on top of one another). I followed this part and superimposed another dog figure. The artist also had his figure inside a circle and a square. I drew a circle around my dog but it did not work the same since the dog is so long. I also created a rectangle around the dog. After sketching it in pencil I went back over this drawing with pen. This was the media Da Vinci used.
