#CreateForME
For this project, I created a t-shirt design for the 2019 MLTI Conference. The theme was #Create4ME. In art history, we talked about the inventions of Galileo, and so I was inspired by that and drew a telescope.
I traced a picture of a telescope from online, to get the shape correct. I then filled in the lines with sharpie. Because I like to play with the border, I used a compass to draw a circle around the telescope, with parts of it breaking the border. I used a thinner marker to make this line to make a contrast between the dark value of the telescope and the thin line. I then placed in the text that was given "MLTI Student Conference", "2019" and "#CreateforME". I handwrote the text because I like the look of it being handrawn–it goes along with the idea of it being "created". I added stars in the background to add some more eye-catching detail. Then I scanned my drawing onto the computer and placed the MLTI logo.
I really like how this turned out. I think it's very simple. I actually liked creating work where I could only use two values (the paper color and the text/image color).
