Time Capsules

For this project the goal was to create four drawings: a self-portrait, your feet in an interesting position, an object you hate, and a perspective view of a building. For the self-portrait you had t take a mirror and set it on the table and draw your face from there. This was challenging because it was a different point of view than I'm used to working with. I quickly sketched my face with a sharpie. I then did a watercolor wash to bring in some color. I painted my shirt green and blue to contrast with the orange and red background. I really like mandalas so I used a compass to create an even circle with a thin black pen. For the feet drawing, I chose to draw one foot in a high heel and another in a sneaker. I liked this contrast of personality. I used pure contour with a black fine point pen. For an object I hate I chose my mouthguard it makes it so hard to talk and is generally just very uncomfortable. I used pure contour again and added a pop of red for contrasting color. For the perspective drawing I drew my guidance consoler's office. It's a place where I feel comfortable. This one I used a ruler and a pencil. Using the vanishing point I drew the office. This is a starting point for the year. I think my self-portrait is my strongest piece as it activates the negative space and effectively uses color.
