Negative Space

We had two assignments for this project: your hand with negative space (obviously) and either stools, plastic animals, or a certain structure/sculpture. For both drawings I went in with a light pencil and sketched the negative space. For the hand one I then made the lines darker and shaded outside the lines. For the object one I chose the stool set-up and after I was satisfied with the pencil outline I went over the lines with sharpie. I then created fine horizontal lines in the negative space.

I chose the stools to draw because they created really interesting negative space. When it came to the background I knew I wanted to fill it with something-nothing crazy though. I went with black lines because it looked clean.
