Pure Contour

For this assignment we had to draw three views of a shoe: a front view, a side view, and a birds eye view that fit onto one piece of paper. I drew a short black boot. For each of these views I sketched the lines with a light pencil (4H). After I was satisfied with those lines I made the lines thicker and darker where necessary. Those lines were usually the ones closest to me. I made the left the lines light and thin if they were far away. This creates depth. We then used a view finder to find an interesting piece of the work. I copied this onto another piece of paper that was split into thirds. I used the same process with the zoomed in drawing to fill the other two thirds.

For the bird's eye view I chose to fold over the side of my boot because I thought it would be interesting to draw. I had the hardest time with this drawing because of the perspective. I chose to zoom in this part of the boot because it was so abstract and different.
