Color Wheel

The objective of this project was to be able to mix 84 colors; all primary, secondary, tertiary, and three of their tints and three shades. I used acrylic paint on canvas. We could only use red, blue, yellow, black, and white. We were to use a palette knife to mix colors and not a paintbrush. I decided to do a honeycomb pattern for my mom who is a beekeeper. I created the stencil so I liked the size and I then traced it onto the paper. Instead of the paper with the pattern I decided to leave a few "spaces" to make the composition more interesting. One things I found difficult was trying to arrange the color groups together so they were cohesive. I ended up repeating the warm tones because I had more room than expected. It worked out because it made the piece more eye catching. Another hard thing was making darker shades for colors that were already pretty dark such as blue-green and blue-violet. And the same with yellow and its tints. Overall, I am happy with my artwork. It was super time consuming but completely worth it.
