Process for getting your Real Estate License in CT
In order to sit for the salesperson's license real estate exam, you must successfully complete a 60-hour Real Estate Principles and Practices Course that meets the minimum requirements as set forth by the State of Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection Real Estate Commission. These classes can be live, in-person, or virtual-live. Subject matter includes:

While the course is intended to prepare individuals to take the Connecticut Real Estate Salesperson's exam, it is also an excellent choice for those who wish to gain more detailed knowledge about the home buying and home selling process.
SALESPERSON REQUIREMENTS
• 60 hours - Principles and Practices of Real Estate
• Application Fee
• Original certificate of completion must be submitted
BROKER REQUIREMENTS
• 60 hours - Principles and Practices of Real Estate
• 15 hours – Real Estate Legal Compliance
• 15 hours – Real Estate Brokerage Principles & Practices
• (2) 15 hour Elective Courses OR Have successfully completed a cumulative total of at least 20 real estate transactions during the previous five years

APPLICATION & EXAM PROCEDURES
• Submit application, application fee and required documentation to PSI licensure
certification. You will then be issued an Examination Eligibility postcard. See PSI
“Candidate Information Bulletin” for current application fee. Applications are valid for one
(1) year. After that, submit a new application and fee.
• Submit registration form & examination fee to PSI. See PSI “Candidate Information
Bulletin” for current examination fee. Schedule exam at a testing site via Internet, phone,
fax or mail.
• Once exams are passed, submit the original examination passing score reports and the
initial license fee to the CT Dept. of Consumer Protection, Licensing Services Division.
Must be made within two (2) years of passing the last portion of the examination;
otherwise a new application & fee must be submitted to PSI in order to be eligible to
retest.
All candidates must pass both State and General portions of the Salesperson or Broker exam
within one year from the date you are enrolled in PSI. If you fail one portion, you must pass the
second portion within that one year from date of eligibility or you will be required to retake both
portions. After one year, you must submit a new Application and Fee.
