How does RPM handle utilities at a multi-unit building?

First, you'll need to let RPM know how the water and electric/gas utilities are metered at your property. Most multi-unit buildings have electric/gas metered by unit (separately) and water metered at a building level (jointly).

Separately metered: If a utility is metered on a unit level, tenants will be required to change the utility into their name once they move in. The tenant will be responsible for the utility payments as a condition of their lease.

Jointly metered: If a utility is jointly metered, the tenants will not be required to transfer the utility into their name. The utility will remain in the owner's name. At a jointly metered property, RPM will incorporate utility payments into the rental price prior to signing a lease with a tenant.
