My favorite Christmas movie is A Year Without a Santa Claus. This movie is my favorite because my family and I always make sure we watch it together every Christmas Eve. A Year Without a Santa Claus came out in 1974, and its genre is fantasy. It is not currently rated, but I would assume it should be watched with parents if the children watching it are younger. The movie, in length, is only 1 hour long.
The movie starts with Santa Claus getting sick. Since he is sick, he decides to cancel Christmas. Children all around the world send Santa postcards and gifts and say they are bringing Christmas to him since he is not able to bring it to them. Mrs. Claus with two of their elves say they will take his place to continue giving the world a Christmas morning. The elves, with the baby reindeer Vixen, go on their own first, and get lost in a town called Southtown. They are faced with the conflict of Vixen being too warm in the south. Since she is just a baby, she does not have the strength in the heat to leave the town. The elves are faced with the town’s problems and have to fix them to be able to get back home.
