The Queen of England became queen seven years after Britain was removed from World War 2. She had seven decades on the throne in the United Kingdom, 70 years. If you aren’t aware, she has just died. She was 96 years old and it was said she had “died peacefully” Thursday afternoon, 9/07/22. Officials say that the queen had been put under medical supervision early Thursday. Since the devastating death of the Queen, Charles the Third is now the United Kingdom's King; however, he is already 73 years old. If he passes away, Prince William, “Duke of Cambridge” will then take the throne. I believe that in our lifetime we will see Prince William and his son Prince George be crowned in Britain.
According to royal.uk website, the funeral of the Queen will be on Monday, September 19th at 11 a.m. Until then, the public is allowed to pay their respects at Westminster Hall. Her coffin was at the ballroom in Balmoral Castle. On September 13th, the Queen's coffin traveled by the Royal Air Force from Edinburgh to Northolt. The state funeral will be held at Westminster Abbey. After the funeral, the coffin will travel from Westminster to Wellington Arch, then the State Hearse, and finally to St. George’s Chapel.
Since the Queen's death, they have made a giant portrait of the queen. It is 5 ft by 4 ft. It is based on the Queen’s official coronation portrait in 1953. In the portrait, she is wearing her Imperial State Crown and holding her scepter and orb. All these items have been placed in her coffin with her during the state funeral. Most of the well-known jewels of the queen will be kept for historical purposes. The rest of the jewels will go to the royal family. The Princess of Wales will get the Queen’s clothes, and the jewelry collection will be divided between the family with one of them getting the first choice on what to grab.
