Venus flytrap!
By: Lauren Miller
The venus flytrap is a carnivorous plant that feeds on insects. The venus fly trap is commonly found in states like North and South Carolina. This plant usually lives in moist soil that lacks lots of nutrients that the flytraps need to live. The Venus flytrap needs lots of sunlight. They are sun loving plants. These plants can take up to three to five days to digest their insect meals and can go months without a meal! The venus flytrap does bloom. The flowers are white with green veins. These are some really extraordinary plants. Venus flytraps are endangered species. People believe that the venus flytrap can live up to 20 years.
Another name for the venus flytrap is: Dionaea Muscipula. The venus flytrap’s head dies off after opening and closing so many times, then grows a new one from the base of the plant. They still get energy from the sun and go through photosynthesis like normal plants, they only eat insects to gain certain nutrients that are hard for them to gain through the soil.
