I interviewed Torrin Davis to see the point of view of a new student and what it’s like to change schools
By Cole Knox
Q: What were your first impressions of this school when you first arrived? How have your views changed since then?
A: “I wasn’t too excited to start back in public school so abruptly, but now I think I’m getting the hang of it. I enjoy being here most days.”
Q: What was the hardest part of coming to a new school?
A: “Not knowing anybody and the fear of being left out or disliked. I wasn’t sure I was going to make any friends but with time I’ve made a few.”
Q: How do you like this school compared to your previous school?
A: “I still think my last school was better. No offense to NC but we used to do a lot of outdoor activities like rock climbing and white water rafting. Plus we always called out teachers by their first names since it was such a small school.”
Q: What new skills have you developed here
A: “I’ve gained more people skills and don’t get as anxious as I used to.”
Q: Do you think you’ll enjoy it here? Give explanation
A: “Yeah I think I will. I’m finally in a public school setting and around people that genuinely enjoy my presence, for the most part. There have been a few hiccups but I’m very happy that I’ve gotten a chance to be back in normal school.”
